What you will be doing
- Develop a deep understanding of the interplay between surface chemistry, production processes, and molecular biology
- Integrate custom surface chemistries platforms into new or existing workflows
- Establish analytical and functional assays to characterize and measure effectiveness of surface chemistry processes
- Utilize basic exploration of new scientific concepts to determine their feasibility
- Aid in the transfer of R&D solutions to elegant and robust commercial product lines
- Scale up and develop alternative production processes to meet demand as 10x Genomics continues to grow
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines to identify, develop, and implement novel chemistry solutions
- Drive project efforts from prototyping, through development, to production and launch
- Contribute ideas leading to new 10x Genomics patent filings and projects
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a focus on materials science, polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant experience in biotechnology, life science, MEMS, or semiconductor related industry
- Experience with silicon and glass surface modifications such as solvent and acid cleans, wet and dry etch, PVD and sputtering metal deposition, and photolithography
- Ability to design meaningful experiments and in-depth analysis of results using statistical tools such as JMP
- Working knowledge of surface chemistry characterization techniques
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry
Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
