The Role:
We’re seeking a Senior Cloud & Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud architecture and .NET backend development to lead the evolution of the Second Harvest Food Rescue App. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in designing scalable cloud-native systems and enjoys building robust backend services that power meaningful social impact.
You’ll be responsible for architecting and maintaining cloud infrastructure using our modern tech stack (see below), optimizing backend services, and ensuring seamless integration across our tech ecosystem. You’ll collaborate with the engineering team to deliver high-performance, secure, and maintainable solutions that support our mission.
Tech Stack You’ll Work With:
- Cloud: Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Key Vault).
- Backend: .NET, ASP.NET Core.
- DevOps: Azure DevOps.
- Integrations: Microsoft Dynamics, APIs.
- Frontend Collaboration: React, Material Design System.
- Other: AI tools for automation and code quality.
Your Impact:
- Architect, develop, and maintain backend services and cloud infrastructure that power the Second Harvest Food Rescue App.
- Design and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure using Microsoft Azure.
- Leverage Azure services (e.g., App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, Key Vault, etc.) to enhance performance and reliability.
- Develop and manage data pipelines and integrations with Microsoft Dynamics.
- Maintain CI pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Collaborate with full-stack engineers to integrate backend services with React-based frontend.
- Understand and utilize our design system (Material) to maintain consistency and enhance user experience when needed.
- Apply best practices in cloud security, performance optimization, and system monitoring.
- Use AI tools and automation to improve development workflows and code quality.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Mentor other developers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.
Who You Are:
Senior Cloud & Backend Engineer with:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Azure, including architecture, deployment, and monitoring of cloud services.
- 8+ years backend development experience with .NET.
- Proven ability to design scalable, secure, cloud-native systems.
- Strong experience with Azure databases (Cosmos DB, Azure SQL) and serverless computing.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Meticulous approach to coding and system design to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, agile environment with an engineering team.
- Commitment to staying updated with industry trends and driving innovation.
