About the Team

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Sr. Director, Data & Pricing Platform to lead our data-driven initiatives and elevate our organization's decision-making processes. As the Sr. Director, Data & Pricing Platform, you’ll be responsible for designing and implementing strategies that drive a step level improvement in our company-wide efforts on data. This role requires a deep understanding of data management, software and ML engineering, federated data and ability to align data initiatives with business goals.

Role Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop, define and execute the overall 18-month analytics, data & ML platform strategy aligned with the organization's objectives
  • Provide direction and guidance to a cross-functional team of data engineers, software and ML engineers
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making and enhanced operational efficiency

Data Engineering:

  • Lead the design and implementation of robust data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions to ensure data accuracy and availability
  • Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge data technologies to improve data processing, storage, and accessibility
  • Manage the development of user-friendly, self-service business intelligence tools that empower stakeholders across the organization to access and interpret data
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, ensuring compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry best practices
  • Implement data security measures to protect sensitive information and maintain data integrity

Software & ML Engineering:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a company-wide federated data platform that enables flexible, inter-operable and efficient business data flows
  • Lead the design and implementation of an ML platform that improves the productivity and reliability of our core pricing models that drive billions of dollars of revenue every year

Team Development:

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing, entrepreneurial team of data, software and ML engineers
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages continuous learning and professional growth

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, finance, and operations, to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights
  • Present complex technical concepts and analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner

Skills Needed:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, ML Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role overseeing data engineering, software engineering and/or ML engineering.
  • End-to-end experience in the data lifecycle, from data ingestion to feature engineering to ML model development, productionization and operation.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Databricks) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills and especially ability to translate/back-translate between business and technology.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align data initiatives with business goals.
  • Demonstrated success in driving data-driven cultural transformation within an organization.
