As the Controller, you will report to the CFO and be responsible for running the accounting function, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and scalability as Mudflap continues to grow. You’ll play a key role in shaping the company’s financial processes and strategies, helping drive our mission forward.
This role involves a hybrid work approach, balancing in-office collaboration with the ability to work remotely.
Expectations (In this role, you will):
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliations
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, and other accounting and regulatory requirements
- Manage audits, tax compliance, and external financial relationships
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs
- Ensure that accounts payable, accounts receivables, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll, and tax transactions are administered and organized timely and properly
- Support the Executive team with accounting strategies and financial insights to drive decision-making
- Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline financial workflows and improve reporting efficiencies
- Lead and mentor a growing Finance and Accounting team
Experience (What we look for):
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in high-growth startups or fintech environments
- CPA and 4+ years of audit experience with established CPA firms strongly preferred
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial controls, and reporting requirements
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) and financial automation tools
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders

The base salary range for this role is $200,000 - $250,000. This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data, which may be subject to change as new market data becomes available. The candidate's skills, experience, and other relevant factors will determine the exact compensation. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards or short-term incentives.
