Position Summary
As the Engineering Manager - UI, you will oversee the design and development of intuitive, scalable, and visually appealing user interfaces. You will lead a team of skilled engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality UI experiences for our customers. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a deep technical understanding of front-end technologies, strong leadership skills, and a passion for driving UI excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of front-end engineers, fostering growth and development.
- Define and drive the UI architecture, ensuring it is scalable, maintainable, and performant.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Maintain high code quality standards, promoting best practices in JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
- Ensure timely delivery of features while balancing technical debt and team productivity.
- Drive continuous improvement in UI development processes, tools, and frameworks.
- Stay updated with industry trends and integrate modern front-end practices into the team.
- Conduct regular code reviews, technical discussions, and team retrospectives.
About You
- Experience: 10-14 years of overall experience in software development, with at least 6+ years in front-end engineering and 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable, reusable front-end architecture.
- Solid understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimization.
- Experience with modern front-end build tools and frameworks (e.g., Webpack, Vite).
- Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and collaborating with design teams.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to TypeScript and testing frameworks like Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
- Experience in leading geographically distributed teams.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating front-end workflows into DevOps processes.
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
Work Location
- The successful candidate will be expected to be in the Bangalore office 3x / week.
