About Our Company

Embark is the leading provider of online admissions software to colleges, universities, and fellowship around the world – we host both the website that students use to apply as well as the software that institutions use for recruiting, evaluation, and enrollment. So far, we’ve powered more than 14 million applications to thousands of organizations worldwide and our client list includes Harvard, Stanford, the Rhodes and Fulbright scholarships, and NYU, to name a few. More recently, we’ve started building an online marketplace for university education; in phase 1, think of a Priceline for university education where universities can find talented students in the summer for the empty seats they have available for the fall.

Embark’s New York headquarters is located in a Soho loft space in New York City. We’re a market leader, but proud of our fun, start-up culture, which keeps us nimble. We are committed to creating opportunities for personal and professional growth. We are a small team and you could have a huge impact.

Do you love technology and have a soft spot for academia? We’d love to hear from you.

The Candidate:

As a Technical Implementation Associate, you will be communicating with clients and helping to build out their online applications/admissions solutions based on their needs. You will also help field email questions from clients for part of your day.

Perhaps you aren’t a full-fledged developer, but you are someone who likes techie things -- maybe you’ve taken a computer science class or two in college, or you’ve taught yourself a bit of programming or dabbled with the idea of attending a coding boot camp. If you have a general interest and aptitude for technology and fixing technical problems, we’d love to hear you.

The ideal Technical Implementation Associate must possess the ability to guide clients through their implementation, and ensure timely and efficient deliverables. He/she will have excellent problem solving and interpersonal communication skills and be highly motivated to resolve product issues quickly and reliably. We pride ourselves in our friendly client-facing team.

You will have the opportunity to grow in another functional area of the company if that’s of interest -- examples include business development, marketing, or development/engineering.

  • Some experience/understanding of HTML and SQL or other databases; JavaScript, CSS a plus but not necessary to start
  • Ability to concurrently handle multiple assignments.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Thrive on technical challenges and constantly thinking of ways to improve our productivity, reliability, and code base.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented.

The Reward:

Competitive Base Salary commensurate with experience, full health and dental benefits, and eligibility for a bonus contingent upon performance. Our work environment is casual but fast-paced and a position at our firm is as challenging and fulfilling as any within the technology sector.
