About Ought
Ought is a product-driven machine learning lab building products like Elicit, an AI research assistant. Elicit uses language models to automate and enhance common research tasks like literature review. We apply frontier technology to serious use cases, enabling our research team to understand in great detail where language models fail and how to mitigate such failures.

About the role
You would be responsible for:
- Shipping exciting features to our users!
- Appreciating the user needs underlying a proposed piece of work.
- Contributing to discussions around design / UX / system architecture.
- Balancing shipping features in the short term with building extensible and maintainable systems.
- Quickly prototyping new ideas.
- Taking on ownership of maintaining and building out systems to keep development flowing.
- Stepping into work and decisions that might be out of your comfort zone.
About the work
- You'll be working primarily in a modern frontend stack (React, TS, Chakra, Tailwind).
- You'll be part of a small, fast-paced team: crossing boundaries to other parts of the work will often be the best way to get things done.
- You will be working on a mix of known features / fixes, prototypes to validate ideas, and semi-nebulous projects in between.
About you
There is no particular amount of experience we're looking for in this role: we are open to new graduates all the way to people with 10+ years of experience. An ideal team-mate for this role:
