The Scientist, Analytical Development (ElevateBio Base Camp, Inc; Waltham, Massachusetts): The Scientist, Analytical Development will support development, qualification, transfer, and troubleshooting of various biological assays for characterization of cell therapies including, but not limited to genetically modified lymphocytes.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Primary responsibilities include planning, executing, analyzing and presenting data internally and externally to support rare cell isolation and quantification by flow cytometry and molecular biology assays such as qPCR and ddPCR. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to training junior staff, developing curricula for development teams, exploring new technologies that can be used to improve analytics and qualify assays to fit purpose. Specific responsibilities include designing and executing experiments for large-scale sterile cell sorting using fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) to support development of GMP processes; designing, executing and qualifying multiparameter flow cytometry panel(s) for use in GMP in-process and releasing testing to assess identity and purity of transformed cells; designing, executing and qualifying qPCR/ ddPCR based quantitative assays for use in GMP in-process and releasing testing measuring viral DNA integration in drug product; supporting development and execution of cell-based assays on various analytical platforms; using advanced mammalian cell culture skills; performing statistical analysis for biological assays; performing data analysis, conducting accurate record keeping, preparing and reviewing technical reports and standard operation procedures, and making internal and external technical presentations. This position will be highly cross functional and assist in developing and driving novel projects with external collaborators and with internal groups such as QC, R&D, PD and GMP manufacturing.
Minimum requirements: Master’s or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Virology, or related Biological Sciences field with 3 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Virology, or related Biological Sciences field with 5 years of relevant experience.
Must have: Prior experience in industry, especially in Analytical Development; prior experience with cell culture, especially primary cells; prior experience with flow-cytometry and cell sorting; prior experience with
qPCR; prior experience with cell-based assays, immunoassays, and viral vectors; prior experience with qualification and GLP validation of flow cytometry-based assays; a fast learner with strong scientific curiosity, good interpersonal skills, and attention to detail; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and excellent written and oral communication skills.
