We are seeking an intensely passionate Scientist to become one of the founding members of our Process Development and Improvement team.

As a part of our team, this has an important role in characterizing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for scalable production of long synthetic DNA using our revolutionary gene synthesis technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design experimental plans, perform studies, and analyze large data sets to optimize production processes for improving product performance (efficiency, throughput, cost, and quality).
  • Collaborate in process transfer for commercial scale manufacturing, partner with the Production, Automation and Software teams to troubleshoot process and method, take part in corrective and preventive actions.
  • Create QC methods and procedures, conduct on-the-job-training for manufacturing and QC operators.
  • Authorize technical documents, including work instructions, batch records, SOPs and training materials, and maintain compliance with good documentation practices.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA, or MS with 5+ years in molecular biology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or a PhD in one of the above fields, with 3+ years of hands-on molecular biology experience in assay, product, and/or process development.
  • Experience with nucleic acid purification, quantification and qualification, molecular cloning, PCR, and NGS sequencing.
  • Experience in developing, executing, analyzing, and documenting robust multivariate experiments (DOE) and statistical data analysis (using statistical software such as JMP)
  • Experience with implementing and troubleshooting processes on liquid handlers and other automated equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience supporting new products initiatives (NPI), continuous process improvements or production sustaining in a biotechnology or life sciences company.
  • Knowledge of synthetic biology techniques and synthetic biology applications.
  • Understanding of process improvement methods.
  • Team player with experience of cross-functional collaborations.

 

Salary and Benefits:

The annual base salary compensation for this role, if based in California is: $110,000 - $125,000. Compensation may be different in other locations.  Final compensation also includes bonus, equity and benefits.   Specific offer packages are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location.
