Position Summary

Effectual Business Analysts (BAs) are members of the Public Sector Program Management team responsible for ensuring that customer-facing projects are delivered with exceptional customer satisfaction and technical excellence. Effectual BAs are "Brand Ambassadors" and are expected to stay current on leading practices to deliver high-quality, well-conceived solutions to customers.

A Glimpse into the Daily Routine of a Business Analyst

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements for application migrations to AWS cloud. Perform data analysis to assess migration requirements and ensure compliance. Contribute to cloud cost analysis and optimization efforts, ensuring efficient resource allocation. Develop and deliver training programs on AWS cloud technologies and best practices. Participate in organizational change management activities, such as impact assessments and change planning. Translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring successful implementation. Prepare documentation, including but not limited to requirements, specifications, and user guides. Analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement and automation. Provide expert guidance and support to project teams throughout the application migration lifecycle. Stay updated on emerging AWS cloud technologies, public sector regulations, and industry trends as a continuous practice. Foster strong stakeholder relationships and maintain effective communication for project alignment and success.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business and functional requirements for application migrations to AWS cloud
  • Collaborate with technical teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and ensure the successful implementation of application migrations
  • Understanding the root cause of client business questions and ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements
  • Help develop project documentation, including requirements documentation, functional specifications, process flows, and user guides
  • Analyze and document business processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation in the cloud environment
  • Provide expert guidance to project teams during the application migration lifecycle, ensuring adherence to project timelines and deliverables
  • Perform data analysis and assess data migration requirements, ensuring data integrity and compliance with agency-specific regulations
  • Assist with cloud cost analysis, optimizing resource allocation, budgeting, and forecasting for application migrations
  • Support the delivery of training programs to educate partners on AWS cloud technologies and best practices
  • Contribute to organizational change management efforts by identifying impacts, conducting change impact assessments, and participating in change management activities
  • Stay updated with emerging AWS cloud technologies, public sector regulations, industry trends, and best practices related to application migrations
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, actively engaging and communicating to ensure alignment and successful delivery of application migration projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in related discipline AND
  • Minimum Experience: 4 years' experience in business analysis preferably specialized cloud technologies OR
  • Substitution/Alternative to Minimum Education and Experience: Must have at least 12 years of on-the-job experience
  • Be able to work remotely but, be able to go on-site as requested and/or occasionally with potentially some form of post-pandemic cadence, on-site in Washington DC
  • Business Analyst Certifications (IIBA CBAP, PMI PBA) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP, ACP) and AWS Associate, Professional, and/or Specialty Certifications
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Proven experience as a business analyst, specifically supporting application migrations to AWS cloud in the public sector
  • Knowledge of business process analysis and workflow documentation, with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to assess data migration requirements and ensure data integrity and compliance
  • Familiarity with cloud cost analysis, resource allocation, and budgeting in AWS cloud environments
  • Basic knowledge or experience in training delivery and facilitating sessions on AWS cloud technologies and best practices
  • Understanding of organizational change management principles and ability to contribute to change impact assessments and activities
  • Proficient technical writing skills to create clear and concise documentation for requirements, specifications, and user guides
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to effectively collaborate and engage stakeholders in the public sector
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Familiarity with public sector regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices related to application migrations to AWS cloud
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Agile / Scrum SDLC methodologies
  • Ability to work with multiple clients, in parallel
  • Ability to work Eastern Standard Time Zone schedule

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience

  • Active Clearance or Public Trust (DOJ Preferred)
  • Proficiency in database analysis, mapping, and design, with experience in data migration projects
  • Data Governance and Data Modeling
  • Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration
  • Experience with cloud database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Amazon DynamoDB)
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies and tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor)
  • Training program design and delivery expertise
  • Certification or experience in change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR)
  • Technical writing proficiency for creating comprehensive project documentation
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement processes and regulations.
  • Business intelligence and reporting tools (e.g., Amazon QuickSight, Tableau).
  • Familiarity with public sector compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Experience in 3rd Party Tool Integration
  • Data Warehousing (Redshift, Synapse Analytics, BigQuery)
  • Data Governance (Frameworks, Lineage, Cataloging)

Location: Remote

Salary Range for this position: $110,000-$140,000

Travel Requirements

The travel requirements for this position may vary depending on our needs. You should be prepared to travel domestically as necessary. Travel frequency and duration will be communicated in advance, allowing for proper planning and coordination. Typically, travel may include attending conferences, client meetings, training sessions, and other business-related events. The ability to travel is essential for fulfilling the responsibilities of this role and supporting our organization's goals and objectives.
