Position Overview

Educate! is looking for an enthusiastic, self-driven, passionate individual with a great attitude  to fill the Position of; Procurement and Logistics Officer to lead the procurement process, provide procurement expertise and assist stakeholders to plan, develop, source and manage procurement arrangements and provide necessary logistical support to effectively meet organisational and business objectives. Excellent interpersonal skills,  being systems oriented, with high integrity, customer service, and strong personality. You shall join an overachieving team that is positioning Educate! to be the leader in skills-based secondary education in Africa and intensively impact one million youth each year by 2024.

About Educate!

Educate! prepares youth in Africa with the skills to succeed in today’s economy.

We tackle youth unemployment by reforming what schools teach and how they teach it, so that students in Africa have the skills to start businesses, get jobs and drive development in their communities. Our model is delivered through practically-trained teachers and youth mentors. Educate!’s goal is to make this practical, skills-based model part of national education systems.

In 2018, we’re working in 175 secondary schools in Rwanda, 60 pilot schools in Kenya, and over 700 schools in Uganda reaching over 42,000 students intensively and 530,000 more broadly. Our model was proven to have massive impact in a randomized controlled trial. Graduates earned DOUBLE the income of a control group and had a 64% increase in business creation. Our graduates change their lives and their communities, such as Lillian Aero who employs over 100 AIDS-affected women.

In 2012, Educate! partnered with Uganda’s government to integrate curriculum and a student business club structure into Uganda's entrepreneurship course nationally, and in 2015, we served as a technical advisor to Rwanda on its secondary education reform.

Educate!’s team includes nearly 200 staff and almost 300 volunteer youth mentors. We have been backed by top foundations such as MasterCard, Big Bang Philanthropy, Mulago, Echoing Green, Ashoka and Global Innovation Fund. Educate! won the 2015 WISE Awards, and was featured by Bill Gates, an Al Jazeera documentary, Forbes 30 under 30, Clinton Global Initiative and The Brookings Institution as one of 14 case studies in their global scaling education learning initiative.

Educate!'s vision for 2024 is to measurably impact 1 million students across Africa each year.


Performance Objectives


  • Implement the procurement policy and strategy and promote purchasing best practices to maximize savings.
  • Ensure procurement processes are complete, accurate, documented and in  compliance with relevant laws & E! Policy.
  • Draft bidding documents, establish evaluation criteria and offer technical   assistance to the procurement committee
  • Anticipate procurement needs to pre-select competitive vendors, and create systems to track and strategically guard against common procurement challenges
  • Liaise with user departments to prepare an annual procurement plan to ensure timely closure of procurement needs.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all procurement requests before presentation for authorization.
  • Coordinate the awards to the best bidder and draft a contract for the selected vendor.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures for the procurement function are understood and applied by staff.


Price Research & Verification

  • Provide support to the administrative coordinator in maintenance of office equipment
  • Liaison point between service providers and the users  
  • Execution of contractual agreements for service and maintenance of office equipment and other office machines including official mobile phones, photocopier and computers.
  • Ensure service and  maintenance records for all equipment are up to date and well maintained


Quality Control

  • Checks quality of materials or services to ensure consistency with requirements through quality monitoring from initiation to usage.
  • Conclude procurement within the time the stipulated timelines
  • Ensure there are operational   controls of the facility  services such as telephone, internet, reception, security etc.
  • Ensuring  the maintenance  and optimization of  Head Office IT infrastructure  and systems;
  • To  ensure  the proper  safety of the  procurement documents
  • Ensuring that the  files are arranged in order of their reference for easy access
  • Suggest improvements based on regular staff feedback and respond to challenges within stipulated timelines.


Office Management

  • Manage the support staff team towards the achievement of Admin termly goals and the maintenance of a clean safe and secure working environment.
  • Ensures the office premises are kept clean and safe, on a daily basis.
  • Create and implement systems of security best practices and carry out regular spot-checks and other initiatives.
  • Enforce security protocol for equipment & supplies
  • Oversee repairs for often-used facilities and request improvements.
  • Oversee distribution of keys and guest sign in
  • Monitor service delivery
  • Proactively build team capacity by delegation of new tasks and training to close capacity gaps



  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or any relevant field with at least 2 years of professional experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with excellent MS Word and Excel skills
