EDGE is seeking a motivated individual to join our Air Quality Management Services practice in our HOUSTON, TX office.  As a member of the team, you assist primarily oil and gas clients in all aspects of air permitting and compliance, while adhering to project deadlines and budgets. This includes preparing technical documents and maintaining professional verbal and written communication with clients and regulatory agencies.
As a Project Specialist, you will assist Project Managers and Senior Project Specialists in the preparation of technically detailed air permit applications and compliance reports with high attention to detail, while thriving in your ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously. You will demonstrate a substantial knowledge of project details when interacting directly with major energy, manufacturing and chemical industry clients, as well as applicable regulatory agencies. Additionally, you will work closely with your fellow team members to ensure the timely completion of a technically sound project within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of technically-detailed air permit applications/registrations for submittal to federal and state agencies.
  • Prepare emission estimates based on site-specific information using approved state and federal calculation methodologies.
  • Learn and apply existing, new, and proposed regulations as they relate to clients.
  • Assist with environmental compliance audits under the direction of the air quality subject matter expert.
  • Prepare annual emissions reports such as state emission inventories, greenhouse gas (GHG) reports, and Toxics Release Inventory (TRI).
  • Develop periodic compliance reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual).
  • Conduct federal and state air quality regulatory reviews.
  • Conduct air quality impact analyses that may involve the use of air dispersion modeling software (SCREEN3, AERMOD, etc.).
  • Assist clients with ongoing federal, state, and local air quality compliance.


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree and demonstrated interest in the environmental field.
  • Familiarity with developing and maintaining spreadsheets and relational databases to track operating and emissions data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication style.
  • Problem solving and creative thinking abilities.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at a time under tight schedule constraints.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in engineering (environmental, chemical, computer, mechanical, etc.), physical science, or related advanced degree.
  • At least two years’ experience in oil and gas air quality permitting and compliance consulting.
  • Experience in traditionally accepted emission calculation methodologies and/or programs (AP-42, ProMax, API, EIIP, TCEQ oil and gas spreadsheet).
  • Working knowledge of air dispersion models (SCREEN3, AERMOD) and modeling practices.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local air quality permitting programs and related regulations.
  • Professional certification (or actions underway to obtain these credentials) in engineering or related environmental discipline.
