Ebury is a hyper-growth FinTech firm, named in 2021 as one of the top 15 European Fintechs to work for by AltFi. We offer a range of products including FX risk management, trade finance, currency accounts, international payments and API integration.
Background
Ebury Mass Payments (EMP) is implementing new systems support for its growing business of
International Mass Payments. EMP is partnering with an external vendor, Geniusto, to achieve
business growth targets to increase turnover by an order of magnitude without significant growth in
operational team size.
Completing the instructed payments in an accurate and timely manner is at the heart of EMP
business model and will be completed through the Geniusto platform.
This is a contract position to start with, where the individual will support the existing EMP Product
and QA teams and help implement and manage the functionality of EMP’s Payments and Bank
Integration processes and systems in line with EMPs business objectives. It is a key position that
involves being part of almost all product/tech processes and interfacing with all business
stakeholders, and therefore promises a wealth of knowledge and experience to the right candidate.
Job Profile
The candidate will need to work closely with the product team to analyse and document product
requirements in conjunction with business stakeholders. The candidate will also be expected to
support the product team by reviewing test scenarios and test cases created by the QA team to
ensure accuracy and coverage, and also assist with triaging of defects during test cycles.
The QA team will rely on the candidate to understand product requirements and thus aid in test
scenario creation. Often we see in the industry that Product and QA are siloed despite best
intentions to collaborate, purely because they have a number of unique responsibilities of their
own, so the Business Analyst will be key in building a robust bridge between Product and QA.
Aside from that, the candidate may be relied upon to document desk instructions / how-to guides
for Payment Operations, Compliance and Client Services teams on how to use the core platform.
All the above will be in close collaboration with internal business stakeholders as well as external
platform partners (in conjunction with product) to discuss requirements, secure approvals and
ensure proper end to end processing.
Candidate Experience
We are seeking an experienced individual who has worked in a Transaction Banking / FinTech
environment as a Business Analyst.
This person will have hands-on experience using payment platforms, i.e. the candidate will be able
to understand user requirements and make configuration changes on the platform to implement
them, including testing and controlled deployment of changes made. It is therefore essential that
they have a good understanding of the typical end to end payment processing flow and a good
understanding of SWIFT (MT/MX) and ISO XML (pain/pacs/camt messaging).
The candidate would also be expected to have at least a basic understanding of FX Spot trades
and concepts (even if not practical experience), whilst a basic understanding of payment
reconciliation and accounting concepts (GL postings, ledgers) would be ideal.
As this role involves some defect triage and work with external partner platforms, the candidate
must also be familiar with APIs and using them with tools such as Postman. The ability to look at
traces / logs to triage and troubleshoot is a good to have.
Finally, experience of having created documentation for business/functional requirements and/or
for internal business teams would be very valuable, but not mandatory. Experience with creating
plans and managing collaboration across back office teams would also be very valuable.
This is a very good opportunity for the candidate to contribute to, and learn from, a variety of
different processes that are part of running and growing a successful business.
