As the Tax Compliance – Global Expansion, you will be responsible for managing tax compliance across multiple regions, including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, and India, with a primary focus on tax matters related to payment processing services. You will lead critical interactions with external BPOs and internal teams to ensure smooth and compliant operations across Ebanx's international expansion efforts. You will be an expert in managing complex tax compliance issues and ensuring our tax strategy aligns with local and international tax regulations.
 
You will also be responsible for:
  • Regional Tax Compliance Management: Oversee tax compliance for EBANX's operations in South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, India, and potentially other emerging markets.
  • BPO Oversight: Lead and manage relationships with external BPOs responsible for tax compliance activities, ensuring effective management and resolution of issues on a day-to-day basis.
  • Strategic Tax Advice: Work closely with the Finance, Regulatory/Legal, and Internal teams to provide timely and strategic tax advice, especially for payment processing services across the African continent and India.
  • Tax Planning and Strategy: Provide ongoing tax planning support for EBANX’s operations in these regions and ensure tax efficiency strategies are consistently applied.
  • Tax Claims and Disputes: Manage the development of new and ongoing administrative or judicial tax claims, working with local law firms and internal teams to ensure alignment and strategic direction.
  • Research and Positioning: Conduct in-depth research and prepare memoranda on key tax matters. Draft positions for EBANX on complex tax issues as they arise across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Stay Current on Tax Reforms: Keep informed about global tax reforms and developments that may impact EBANX and its clients, particularly in the regions mentioned above, and provide updates to the team when necessary.
Main requirements for this position:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Administration, or a related field with extensive experience in tax matters, particularly cross-border and domestic tax compliance for the payment processing industry.
  • BPO Management Experience: Experience managing external BPOs and overseeing the control and management of tax compliance processes, including interactions with internal and external auditors.
  • Tax Knowledge: general understanding of tax treaties, transfer pricing, thin capitalization, CFC rules, general tax reporting obligations, and administrative/judicial tax procedures.
  • Project Leadership: Proven ability to lead projects and provide tax efficiency solutions to internal finance stakeholders in a high-growth environment.
  • Fluency in English: Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Additional Language Skills: Fluency in Spanish or at least intermediate-level Spanish is a plus.
