Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, counsel to serve as Counsel - Product. You will assist with several vital legal initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in the fintech space. This is an exciting opportunity to work on challenging technology and business issues, supporting senior counsel. As we expand our offerings, your ideas and contributions will make an immediate impact.
This is a remote position. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000 - $204,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
What You'll Do:
- Work as part of the Legal team and cross-functionally on a variety of product matters and marketing questions
- Advise on a wide range of consumer finance regulatory issues regarding existing and new products (including from the initial stages of product development through launch), including providing legal and regulatory feedback and advice on: product features, advertising and marketing, customer support
- Look around corners and creatively solve problems for the business as they plan, build, and execute their product roadmap
- Develop, share and deploy knowledge and best practices for working with processors and financial partners
- Assist with state and federal examinations and independent audits, including discussing product decisions and features with regulators and independent auditors and examiners
- Assist with preparing and maintaining terms of service associated with e-commerce products
- Assist with developing and providing training to business units on policies, procedures and developments in laws, regulations and best practices
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
- JD degree and 5+ years of relevant legal experience
- Strong knowledge of consumer finance regulations, including FDCPA, Reg E, Reg Z, FCRA, and/or UDAAP.
- Experience with card payment association rules/operating regulations and NACHA rules a strong plus
- A collaborative style who can work under pressure with little or no supervisionA deep thinker who can communicate clearly under pressure
- Passion for exploring new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of ownership and urgency, high energy and enthusiasm
- Experience in a start-up environment preferred
