THE JOB / Account Trainee, Merchant Marketing (Payment Services Client)

EXPERIENCES / Responsible for planning and executing event and experiential marketing programs.

This is a position within the Octagon Marketing Trainee Program. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Merchant Marketing Team in managing day to day relationships with a major payment services client supporting their merchant partners. Potential responsibilities include managing administrative documents, pre/post-event planning, local market/on-site activation, and event recaps.

The right candidate will be able to work independently, as part of a team and will work closely with the internal team, account verticals, clients, and vendors. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn account management, event planning, sponsorships, program logistics, and event activation skills! Teamwork, excellent organizational & time management skills, willingness to learn, attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and flexibility are required for this position.

THE WORK YOU’LL DO

  • Assist the team in supporting day-to-day needs of our payment services clients as well as a variety of their merchant partners
  • Play an integral part in the planning and execution process of custom marketing programs that leverage sponsorship resources with specific merchant partners
  • Work closely with internal account teams to find and present opportunities and restrictions with specific sponsorship properties
  • Prepare pre/post-event materials on multiple programs
  • Support numerous projects simultaneously, both large-scale custom experiences and smaller-scale turn-key events
  • Assist with managing documents such as program overviews, recap summaries, budgets, sell-in presentations, and meeting notes
  • Assist with the program planning by understanding the finance model and the internal payment process
  • Participate in brainstorms and creative ideation and conduct research as requested
  • Travel domestically as needed to support on-site events
  • Assist with administrative duties
  • Other duties as assigned

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A passion for and expertise in sports, entertainment, gaming, music and/or celebrity & lifestyle culture
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 0-1 years of relevant internship/work experience
  • Superior organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
  • Exceptional client service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Ability to handle multiple projects for different clients at one time with outstanding time management skills
  • Strong self-starter with excellent team dynamics
  • Collaborative in nature with a “no job is too small” positive mindset
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Team mentality and ability to collaborate with a diverse group of people and cultures
  • Payment services industry knowledge is a plus
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically and work weekends or holidays as needed. Anticipated travel level: Moderate (20-45%)

This position pays minimum wage and is overtime-eligible.
