Strengthen Duolingo’s accounting team as our revenue grows rapidly. The Accounting Manager is responsible for directing and organizing accounting staff and all general accounting activities, which includes monthly, quarterly, and yearly close, GL maintenance, fixed assets, accounts receivable and accounts payable. The successful candidate for this position will report to our Director of Accounting and Systems and play an instrumental role in building the financial future of the company.
Review and manage completion of the month end closing process.
Review records of incoming and outgoing payments to the organization for accuracy
Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
Manage all payroll functions and cycles
Recommend and Implement software solutions to accounting processes.
Support the annual financial audit with our external audit firm by preparing workpapers.
Lead and manage the process for employee expense reports and company credit card transactions, through Concur (or similar software)
Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, PCAOB, and SEC requirements.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of accounting experience
Experience with public companies
Experience working with accounting systems and expense management systems
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
Strong ability to meet sensitive deadlines with high precision
