About the role:
Knowledge Engineers are responsible for building out Droit’s decision platform for regulatory compliance by developing rules that evaluate global regulatory obligations for capital markets transactions. Knowledge Engineers will develop and hone a unique combination of skills, coupling a proficiency in analyzing complex regulatory requirements with an engineer’s ability to create functional, scalable knowledge models. What you’ll do in this role:
- Design and build executable knowledge models for complex, global regulations using proprietary domain-specific programming languages
- Analyze regulatory texts – including supporting guidance and supplementary rules – to identify new obligations and assess the impact of changes on maintained rules
- Drive understanding of regulatory requirements for clients and fellow Knowledge Engineers by annotating knowledge models and composing documentation
- Collaborate with our Software Engineers to develop and refine tooling to improve and automate knowledge modeling workflows
What we are looking for:
- Strong academic background in a technical or analytical field
- Practical experience with programming and familiarity with basic tools, including a version control system (e.g., git)
- Strong understanding of algorithmic thinking and ability to solve challenging problems through abstraction and modeling
- Impeccable attention to detail and a commitment to precision
- High degree of curiosity with the ability to ask thoughtful questions
- Demonstrated ability to engage successfully in self-directed research or independent learning
- Collaborative mind-set and commitment to knowledge sharing
Any of the following would be an added benefit:
- Prior experience working with and analyzing regulatory or legal documents
- Experience designing and building technology solutions for large, sophisticated clients
- Technical writing or similar experience in documenting complex requirements
