About the Role:

Our Brokerage Platform is at the core of powering brokerage operations, managing everything from incoming order traffic to post-trade processing. As a Senior Software Architect, you will be responsible for designing and delivering highly scalable, robust, and high-performance systems that meet both functional and non-functional requirements. You will play a key role in leading the architectural evolution of our platform, focusing on high availability, resiliency, and continuous improvement in all aspects of software delivery. This role requires a deep understanding of software architecture principles, systems design, cloud technologies, and operational excellence in the context of a mission-critical financial environment.

As a Senior Architect, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and shaping the future of our brokerage platform. What You'll Do:

  • Architect and lead the design of scalable and resilient back office and front office systems that support high throughput, low-latency transactions, and 24x7 availability
  • Define and enforce non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, security, and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the platform meets both functional and operational requirements in a cloud-native environment
  • Drive high availability and disaster recovery initiatives to ensure business continuity and minimize downtime in mission-critical systems
  • Lead the development of common libraries and frameworks to standardize internal practices and improve efficiency across teams
  • Establish and mature testing automation frameworks, including performance, integration, and regression testing, to ensure high-quality releases
  • Mentor and lead engineering teams, guiding them through the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and ensuring best practices are followed in architecture, code quality, and design
  • Oversee production environments, manage operational health, and design systems to be fault-tolerant and self-healing
  • Ensure that all systems adhere to industry standards for security, compliance, and privacy, especially in highly regulated financial services

What You'll Need:

  • 15+ years of experience in software architecture, systems design, and leading engineering teams in enterprise-scale environments, preferably in brokerage services or similar financial domains
  • Expertise in high-availability architecture and building systems with disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and self-healing capabilities
  • Strong understanding of non-functional requirements including disaster recovery, scalability, performance, security, resiliency, and operational excellence
  • Proven ability to design and implement robust testing automation frameworks across unit, integration, and performance testing
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms
  • Familiarity with message queuing, event-driven architecture, and streaming data platforms like Kafka
  • Expertise in cloud-native architectures using platforms like AWS, including services like EKS, ElastiCache, S3, RDS, Lambda, and Kinesis
  • Advanced experience with microservices architecture and developing API-driven systems that are both scalable and maintainable
  • Proficiency in message-driven systems using tools like Kafka, ActiveMQ, or similar technologies
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (Cassandra, DynamoDB) databases, with a deep understanding of database scaling and performance optimization
  • Experience with building and maintaining common libraries and frameworks that support software development standards across teams
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers, driving them to meet both technical and business goals
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex architectural concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have, But Not Required:

  • Experience working in high-frequency trading or brokerage platforms, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges of such environments
  • Knowledge of Linux and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automating workflows and extracting data
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, CQRS, and event sourcing
  • Extensive experience with designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for automation and continuous delivery of software

Compensation
Compensation package offerings are based on candidate experience and technical qualifications, as it relates to the role. These are identified and determined throughout your interviewing experience.
