The Tax team is heavily involved in the operations of the business that impact Dashers, Merchants and Customers. As a key partner to the business, we are closely integrated with the other functions in the CFO organization.
About the Role
The Associate Manager, Tax Reporting will report to the Sr. Manager, Tax Reporting, and will play a key role in the Tax team as DoorDash rapidly expands. This role will assist in various Tax Reporting needs as DoorDash expands within the US and globally.
A successful candidate will be able to build successful relationships within Tax and across the broader company and communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Provide operational support and own select workstreams for the annual year-end filing process as it relates to Forms 1099 in the US (including but not limited to 1099-NEC, 1099-K, 1099-MISC), Australia TPAR, Canada and New Zealand OECD requirements, and Puerto Rico monthly, quarterly and annual payments and filings.
- Own a portfolio of initiatives within the team end-to-end and execute on cross-functional and complex projects and larger workstreams.
- Draft internal processes requirements and procedures as we create a functional tax information reporting model that is in compliance with SOX requirements, operationally efficient, and scalable.
- Provide operational support for annual compliance notices such as the CP2100/972CG including the tracking of B Notices and W-9 solicitations and the application or procedures for non-compliant accounts.
- Provide operational support to the subject-matter-experts on the Tax team for information reporting matters by addressing queries from internal teams (such as Operations, Product, Accounting, Legal), external parties (such as our Dashers and Merchants), and vendors.
- Respond (in a timely manner) to inquiries related to tax onboarding and information reporting (year-end filing) from internal stakeholders and payees.
We’re excited about you because…
- You have the requisite 4+ years of experience in tax, accounting, legal, compliance, operations, or other similar fields, and the requisite Bachelors or Masters degree in tax, accounting, or similar fields.
- You have the requisite experience and knowledge in understanding large volumes of data about various complex business models, in reconciling large volumes of data against accounting and operational records, and in handling sensitive Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
- You have the requisite experience and knowledge using Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Excel.
- You have the requisite experience and knowledge in general tax compliance (e.g., tax form preparation and filings).
- You have the requisite experience and knowledge in collaborating and communicating technical issues, verbally and in writing, clearly and simply with business and operational teams within a company, and in working effectively across all functional teams within a company.
- You have the ability to quickly learn and understand common principles of Tax Reporting and the ability to apply them to the business.
- You will drive initiatives with a high level of quality with minimal guidance.
- Plus if you have direct experience with Tax Reporting planning and/or compliance.
- Plus if you have direct experience with DoorDash internal systems and structure.
