About the Team

DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We explore robotics and automation to transform last mile logistics in the long term. If you have a passion for applying robotics solutions in a service used by millions of people, then we want to talk to you!

About the Role

We are hiring a firmware engineer for our autonomy software team. This is a critical role as more and more of our system elements are being designed in house for a very unique vehicle for our application. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Play an integral role on a small and focused team
  • Work with multiple embedded platforms throughout our robot system
  • Interface many layers of our control system including vehicle controls, power management and motion control
  • Design and implement low-level control algorithms to safely control ALL vehicle components such as low and high voltage batteries, drive-train, thermal management devices etc
  • Define and solve new problems not listed here using new skills and knowledge that you may have to acquire on the fly!

We’re excited about you because…

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or related technical field
  • 5+ years hands-on experience of building robots, autonomous vehicles or other complex mechatronics systems
  • Strong understanding of fundamental parts of robotics or mechatronics systems: feedback control, sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, CAN communication
  • Strong C/C++ experience on embedded systems using microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, QNX, etc)
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow/Python
  • Knowledge and comfort working with hardware electrical systems for bringup and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable using source control and build automation tools like Git, jenkins etc.
