You will develop relationships across the org to help shape our merchant communications narrative and strategy, ultimately driving key business results. This is a unique opportunity to help build and strengthen our voice to merchants. Join us in our global mission to empower and grow local economies.

About the Role

DoorDash is looking for a Senior Manager, Merchant Communications who will be responsible for developing merchant-first campaigns, owning partnership announcements, identifying data and momentum stories and developing narratives that demonstrate our value and commitment to the industry. You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders across the company, key business partners and merchants.

You are a fit for this role if you are a skilled project manager that has experience building and scaling B2B PR and communications programs, managing complex communication challenges and have a rolodex of restaurant trade and business media relationships.

You will report into the Director of Merchant Communications. Once our offices reopen, we expect this role to be hybrid with some time in-office and some time remote.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Sit within the Consumer, Merchant and Product & Innovation Communications team and work closely with partners across Policy and Communications, Merchant Strategy and Operations, Merchant Products and Services, Strategic Partnerships and Product Marketing teams to shape our merchant communications strategy and narrative to drive key business results, always ensuring a merchant-first approach.
  • Develop and manage strategic campaigns, product and partnership announcements, data and momentum stories that demonstrate our value and commitment to the industry. Similarly, develop creative campaigns for our enterprise, regional and local merchants alongside the marketing and partnership teams.
  • Create B2B communications assets including launch plans, press releases, pitches, blog posts, media strategy outlines, coverage recaps, press lists and statements to support proactive and reactive initiatives.
  • Understand the merchant business to advise and partner with teams on new products and programs for DoorDash merchants.
  • Advance key business partners’ profile in the industry by identifying evergreen thought leadership opportunities, drafting written content and by securing on stage roles at key restaurant industry events.
  • Own media opportunities end to end including securing, preparing executives, writing talking points and sharing coverage with stakeholders.
  • Bring to life our merchant-first narrative and mission of local community empowerment through merchant news hooks, data driven storytelling and consumer-focused promotions.
  • Engage with and get to know merchants to discover strong storytellers and brand advocates.
  • Develop relationships with business and tech media, restaurant trade and beat reporters
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key executives and DoorDash leaders, while identifying and training new spokespeople for press interviews, media tours and events.
  • Support cross functional partners’ objectives with a POV, communications guidance and a recommended PR strategy.
  • Track communications projects in motion and maintain up-to-date status in a fast-moving business environment.
  • Support and manage crisis-related comms efforts related to our merchant partner.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 8+ years of experience building and scaling communications programs, working with a diverse set of media outlets.
  • You understand how to lead a successful B2B communications strategy.
  • You have experience leading cross-functional teams and working with external agencies.
  • You have experience developing strategic communications programs with a merchant-first (B2B) mindset.
  • You have experience managing challenging or crisis communications programs and proactively guiding the business to a resolution.
  • You've demonstrated leadership executing strategic communications plans in a complex organization with varied priorities.
  • You are comfortable advising senior leadership and executives.
  • You excel working in fast-paced, fluid and challenging environments.
  • You have excellent people and project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines.
  • You excel at making room at the table and creating positive and collaborative environments for internal and external teammates.
  • You take your work, but not yourself, seriously—and maintain a good sense of humor about both.
