DoorDash is hiring an experienced professional to lead government relations strategy in New York City and New York State, reporting to the Head of Government Relations East

Based in New York City or Albany, you will work closely with the Public Policy and Communications teams, as well as with departments throughout the company, including Legal, Regulatory, and Marketing, to design and execute our government relations strategy. You will build relationships with state and local elected officials and policymakers in New York State, and tell the story of how DoorDash is empowering local communities — from generating billions of dollars in supplemental income for Dashers, to providing opportunities for local businesses to grow in the era of ecommerce, to powering the delivery of millions of meals to people in need.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Craft and execute DoorDash’s legislative and political strategy for New York City and New York State, with the support of a stellar in-house team and an industry-leading group of external political consultants who you will manage
  • Build long-term relationships with elected officials and key staff, establishing DoorDash as the preeminent voice for our industry
  • Represent DoorDash at legislative and regulatory hearings, including by providing oral and written testimony  
  • Participate in trade groups and industry associations on behalf of the company
  • Work with our entire team to lead, design, and execute effective policy campaigns, including grassroots grasstops advocacy, earned and paid media, and community events
  • Collaborate with policy development leads to craft policy solutions that serve business needs while meeting political realities 
  • Coordinate with counterparts at peer companies to build and lead effective coalitions

  • You have a BS or BA from an accredited university
  • You have 4+ years of experience serving in government at the state level or working directly on public policy issues for corporate clients
  • You thrive under pressure and have a proven ability to achieve hard-fought policy outcomes 
  • You have a deep understanding of government relations, including effective lobbying strategies, grassroots organizing, and the mechanics of policy-making
  • You are a strong strategic thinker with polished written and oral advocacy skills
  • You are organized, collaborative, and have a bias for action
  • You are willing to travel within the state (2-3 days a week)
  • You’re a self-starter; you’re intrinsically motivated but also a good teammate
  • Experience in New York City and New York State politics

  • Direct policy experience in employment/labor law or policy
  • Experience in the tech industry, particularly the on-demand economy
