About the Team

It's an exciting time to join our growing Tax team and be a part of the fast growth we are experiencing! The Tax team is involved in the operations of the business that impact Dashers, Merchants and Customers. As an important partner to the business, we are involved at the front-end on plans for new products or country expansions, and integrated with the other functions in the CFO organization. As DoorDash continues to expand its product offerings and global footprint, proper planning plus management and compliance with different indirect tax laws continues to grow in importance.

About the Role

The Manager, International Indirect Tax will report to the Director, Global Indirect Tax and will meaningfully contribute to the Tax team as DoorDash expands. You will manage international transaction tax compliance, reporting, audits, planning, and expansion activities.

You will build successful relationships within Tax and across the broader company and communicate complex indirect tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Manage the full life cycle for international indirect taxes including VAT, GST, DST, and business activity taxes.
  • Manage local country indirect tax compliance for DoorDash's foreign subsidiaries by ensuring efficient accounting, compliance, and payment of indirect taxes.
  • Review monthly international indirect tax journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Manage DoorDash's international indirect tax registrations and business license requirements.
  • Perform research on a variety of tax issues, including new transaction taxes, new markets and project-specific projects.
  • Ensure new products and markets launch with indirect tax compliance requirements and processes implemented, minimizing risk and exposure to penalties.
  • Analyze current and proposed indirect tax policy changes, evaluating impacts, developing plans accordingly.
  • Review international indirect tax requirements for system implementation or enhancements.
  • Partner with a variety of DoorDash teams, including accounting, legal, engineering, operations, and finance on a variety of projects.
  • Support tax positions subject to audit.
  • Identify areas of process improvement with regards to the management of the international indirect tax compliance process.

We're excited about you because…

  • You have 6+ years of relevant tax experience with an understanding of indirect tax and international tax systems (VAT/GST).
  • You have an ability to understand common principles of international indirect tax and ability to apply them to the business.
  • You have experience with international indirect tax compliance and the related accounting.
  • You have a B.S. degree; CPA or JD (JD equivalent) required. MST or Tax LLM.
  • You have relevant public accounting, law firm or industry experience.
  • You have an ability to communicate technical tax issues to non-tax team members.
