About the Team

Chowbotics is at the forefront of bringing automation into the food industry as part of DoorDash. We develop and ship robots that enable convenience through food automation. Our robots are often characterized as compact micro-restaurants that can provide customizable, fresh, healthy meals in closer proximity to consumers than any other food source. We are a team of engineers and manufacturing innovators that have exciting plans for scaling and developing new and more advanced food robots.

About the Role

The Senior Firmware Engineer will be responsible for architecting and implementing the next generation of food robots. This exciting role will allow you to play a major role in the multi-disciplinary architectural team, selecting not only hardware but firmware methodologies that will define the direction of food robots for the generations to come. You will engage in strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as industry experts. You will report to the Hardware Engineering Manager, Chowbotics.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain an embedded firmware system that will operate the company's line of food robots
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain a factory test environment to test the embedded systems during the manufacturing phase
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain a suite of ancillary software controls that allow for full field maintenance of the embedded systems by the end user
  • Generate automated performance reports
  • Write and maintain system-level and user-level documentation
  • Perform root cause analysis of difficult problems and document problem resolution methodologies

We're excited about you because… 

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of software development industry experience
  • Knowledge in software development, with experience designing and integrating embedded system applications
  • Strong understanding of control systems, feedback loops, machine learning, and monitoring
  • Experience in C, C++, and Microchip assembly (ASM)
  • Complete comfort with common lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, etc).
  • Familiarity with PID control, closed-loop control systems, and machine vision
  • Familiarity with automated build and test systems
  • Python and LabVIEW experience
