Associate Director, Global Market Planning

Denali Therapeutics is dedicated to developing breakthrough therapies for neurodegenerative diseases through our deep commitment to degeneration biology and principles of translational medicine.  Supported by our deep expertise in the biology of neurodegeneration and brain-delivery technology, we are advancing a broad portfolio of programs, including some that are progressing toward late-stage clinical development.

The Opportunity

This role, reporting to the Director of Global Market Planning, will serve as the market insights expert to help support portfolio strategy, clinical development, and commercialization planning efforts for multiple programs in Denali’s portfolio.  You will be accountable for leading various market assessment activities including forecasting, market research, competitive intelligence, secondary insights gathering, etc. to synthesize key insights and provide actionable recommendations.  You will be an integral part of the Denali community and will collaborate with cross functional partners (e.g., project teams, finance, clinical, medical affairs, etc.) on a regular basis.

Responsibilities include:

Overall

  • Serve as the market insights expert representing HCPs, patients, and payers to help shape the development of TPPs, inform and guide decision making on clinical trial design, and support product commercialization planning

Primary & Secondary Market Research

  • Design and execute market research projects, ensuring high quality insights and recommendations to meet business needs
  • Select vendors, manage relationships, oversee and prioritize research activities
  • Monitor changes in the market that are relevant to project portfolio, guide interpretation and recommend response
  • Support the development of early market access & pricing strategy

Forecasting

  • Develop and maintain models to forecast long-term revenues for pipeline products in ALS, AD, PD, and rare diseases of the CNS
  • Lead ad-hoc opportunity assessments of potential indications or therapeutic areas to support portfolio prioritization and/or indication selection

Competitive Intelligence

  • Lead and maintain gathering and interpretation of competitive intelligence information across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Monitor CI information to develop briefings and late breaking alerts for project teams and Denali leadership
  • Maintain an updated perspective on current and future competition, including identifying and evaluating relevant competitors

Commercial Planning & Operations

  • Participate in the development and evolution of the organization’s commercial and/or portfolio strategy as needed
  • Collaborate with project teams, IR, Medical Affairs, and other key functions to optimize and pull through external communication strategy including disease area & program education
  • Support the execution of various pipeline stage marketing activities in line with the development timeline of programs (e.g., messaging, unbranded education, INN, etc.)

Requirements

  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong analytical and strategic capabilities; outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to gather and synthesize insights across various sources and distill into meaningful recommendations for programs
  • BA or BS in Health Sciences or related discipline, PhD/MD/MBA is a plus
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare consulting
  • Previous experience in neurology and/or rare diseases with understanding of market dynamics is a plus
  • Previous experience in early pipeline strategy, new product planning and/or market planning is a plus
  • A strong aptitude for and interest in science and drug development
  • Ability to prioritize and right-size in a fast-paced growth environment
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Curiosity, strong work ethic and a sense of humor
  • A strong passion for developing therapies to help patients
