Opportunity:

The Laboratory Manager at Denali Therapeutics is responsible for working with the research scientists, facilities, EH&S and outside vendors to establish and maintain an efficient, safe and compliant laboratory. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the labs and is the point person for Lab equipment management, and/or maintenance.consumables inventory (chemicals, media, consumables, and enzymes.

They will also be accountable for management of lab vendors, lab space utilization. maintenance. The Laboratory Manager will ensure processes and services are monitored for quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency through continuous process and quality improvement. Recommend and implement ideas to improve operational efficiency.

 Responsibilities:

In this position the incumbent will provide laboratory services to all biology and chemistry team researchers including daily media prep and periodic vacuum trap waste disposal. They will support all labs with general cleaning, stocking and waste management. In addition they will perform  regular prevention and cleanup of bacterial and other contaminations on lab surfaces and in incubators.

She/He will work with EH&S to manage laboratory and animal facility bio and hazard waste and develop and maintain a defrost schedule for all -20C and -80C freezers. She/He will maintain chemical inventories. Dispose of unused/expired chemicals, partner with waste disposal vendor.

They will maintain and support general cleanliness of laboratories, manage and maintain biology glass wash facility and autoclaves. They will Control inventory of supplies in stock centers, working with vendors for overview of supplies, insuring needed supplies are always on hand. She/He will maintain laboratory chemical inventory management database ensuring inventory and regulatory reporting accuracy. They will be accountable for maintain supplies of, and stock, laboratories with commonly used supplies (tips, centrifuge tubes, flasks, cell culture flasks, serological pipettes.

He/She will partner with program leads to space plan equipment, laboratory use, work flows, and storage solutions (including biologic specimens and bulk supplies). Manage equipment moves, researcher bench space and equipment assignments. In addition they will work with facilities on laboratory needs such as electrical, reconfiguration, equipment moves and data drops.

They will also provide researchers an active interface between Accounts payable, Finance, Legal and Facilities. Help to facilitate resolutions for these types of issues, leaving the researcher the time to focus on research.

Requirements

B.S. in biologic sciences with 6+ years of laboratory experience.  Master’s degree preferred. Ideally, the Laboratory Manager will have 4+ years of experience in an industry lab setting and 2+ years of directly relevant laboratory management experience.
