The Opportunity

We are currently seeking to recruit an Associate Scientist to join our Biology Discovery group to drive and enable flow cytometry operations to support drug discovery research at Denali. This role would lead efforts to design and implement flow cytometry and cell-based assays to support target validation, biomarker identification, and therapeutic candidate selection.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Develop, validate, and implement novel state-of-the-art cell sorting-based assays to identify target-based biological pathways and mechanisms, as well as evaluate therapeutic agents
  • Contribute to drug discovery by evaluating therapeutics and biological mechanisms across interdisciplinary teams using in vitro systems and in vivo models
  • Provide support and collaborate across Biology Discovery and Translational Sciences teams for FACS-based cell isolation and characterization associated with in vitro and in vivo studies
  • Operate and maintain BD FACSAria III cell sorter and FACSCanto II flow cytometer
  • Make detailed scientific observations, analyze data, interpret and present results
  • Conduct flow cytometry data analysis

Requirements

  • BS/MS with 5-10 years of industry experience, or
  • PhD in Immunology, Cell or Developmental Biology, Neurobiology, or related field with postdoc or industry experience
  • SCYM(ASCP)CM qualification is highly preferred
  • Expertise in applications and implementation of FACS-based analysis and sorting techniques, strong preference for candidates experienced in BD Aria cell sorter and flow instruments and Diva software
  • Experience with flow cytometry-based isolation and characterization of primary human and/or mouse cells
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture
