Job Purpose:
Based in London, as Head of Content, supporting the events/products owned and managed from our London office, you will be responsible for continuing to shape, build and execute the conference content strategy for the LNG, Gas & New Energies Division. This is a crucial time for the energy industry as it rapidly adapts and evolves to meet net zero ambitions across the globe as part of the energy transition. dmg events is committed to playing a key role in bringing together the major stakeholders to meet critical decarbonisation goals.
Working as part of the global dmg energy team, which comprises of conferences, exhibitions and online products, you will be responsible for identifying and setting the short- and long-term strategic direction and delivery of business critical, relevant and compelling content across our products and support all marketing and PR messaging to help position these events.
You will be involved in all aspects of the strategy and execution of our conferences including support on commercial structure, setting location, identifying sponsors, partners, potential hosts, as well as programme creation and development, on-site management and speaker liaison to ensure the successful smooth running of the conference(s) and that exceptional service is delivered to our customers and clients.
This role is key to the success of the growth and development of our business, it’s heavily focussed on year-round content and the programme development of our global conferences but also covers other areas of conference management. Working alongside commercial, marketing, PR, data & digital, operations teams, and managing a team of content producers, you will report directly to the Energy VP working on a number of major international large-scale events, small-scale events and new business launches.
This is an exciting and highly varied global role that will demand your intellectual autonomy, creativity, and an ability to think beyond the standard commercial conference ‘conveyor belt’ production cycle. Your primary aim will be to help the content department create a long-term reputation for excellence in the global energy market, driving forwards dmg :: energy Events’ ambitions to be the most respected provider of energy conferences in the world.
 
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Strategy
We need to position the events effectively and differentiate dmg from the competition; you are responsible for mapping the global energy market value chain and existing content to enable the business to fully analyse and strategically position the current series and future dmg energy events and products.
Business
o In alignment with the overall dmg business plans you will help to assess and produce a full market and product positioning plan (up, mid, downstream and immediate adjacent sector events) to establish a clear strategy to support our content positioning, audience retention/acquisition and product evolution.
Content Strategy Development
o As a continuation of the business mapping you will provide an overarching, structured content and programme format strategy to support current and future events; keeping commercial, global and regional needs firmly in focus. This should be in line with the wider energy portfolio content strategy.
o You will provide ongoing mentoring and advice across all teams but especially to the content production, sales and marketing teams to establish/refresh in-depth industry knowledge to help enable the successful execution of the agreed strategy across multiple products.
o You will provide a high value, current and differentiated programme for the World LNG Summit, Americas Energy Summit & Exhibition, Lisbon Energy Summit & Exhibiion, and Asia Pacific Energy Summit and supporting content (including whitepapers, webinars etc).
o You will assist in targeting key industry stakeholders (IOC’s, NOC’s, Ministers, Global Leaders) to positively influence them in regards to the value/positioning of the events and the value that dmg energy events provides, driving their attendance and advocacy across the portfolio.
o Digital content and development of the community is a key aspect of the portfolio growth and market engagement plan and your strategy should encompass this to extend our reach to connect our communities cross-portfolio.
• In addition to the programming aspect of the role, you will contribute to build the profile of the portfolio through the creation of a regular blog, featured industry articles, interviews with industry key stakeholders, social media engagement and content, seek speaking or moderating opportunities to place the events at the heart of the market.
Product & Team Development & Evolution
o The repositioning of the LNG, Gas & New Energies series is essential to its long-term success; innovation, diversification and appealing to new audiences through expansion into new energies market sectors is vital for the growth and expansion of the portfolio positioning and delivery will be a key to driving it forward.
o You will ensure that the steering committees are engaged and representative, in a geographic, experiential and sectorial basis, across the complete LNG/gas and new energies value chain.
o You will propose and implement a clear structure and process to manage the governing body members, chairing and succession planning ensuring both continuity and the originality of the programmes.
o You will scope out and propose innovative changes to the event format with increased moderated, interactive and networking opportunities for participants.
o The delivery of content and tangible return for delegates is key to the success of the business, therefore you will review the latest conference technology trends, conduct primary audience research and incorporate findings into delivering a marketing leading product with content that can be repurposed.
o Establishing clear value propositions/briefings for internal and external stakeholders is essential to clearly define products, benefits and tangible solutions.
o You will develop a clear schedule, including key content timelines, throughout the project cycle and ensure that they are met and content goes out to market as quickly and effectively as possible.
o Team building responsibilities: recruitment/training/programme/production guidance/creating culture of best practice.
Commercialisation of Content
o You will establish uniquely curated content to help retain and attract new audiences/markets, this will establish a tangible value for our customers, enabling dmg to monetise the programmes through:
 Delegate revenue
 Sponsorship revenue opportunities
 Monetisation of other developmental and launch programmes: online, Roundtables, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, Technical streams etc.
Market & Customer Insight Development and Execution
o Key account management and customer relationship development will play a substantial part in the strategy to growing and establishing the division as a leading dmg event portfolio.
o As part of the overall account management strategy, you will play an instrumental role in developing current and prospective customer insights and relationships.
o You will also build and develop relationships internally across the dmg global energy team to help share best practice, understand client needs/synergy across various event content in relation to key clients and market dynamics to help drive revenues.
o You will maintain close links with management to ensure that they are constantly aware of the status of events and weekly/monthly reports will be sent to provide a full overview of all related progress and recommendations to improve events and mitigate any risk.
o You will use your industry expertise, industry relationships, relationships with governing bodies to shape the content, PR/communications strategy and content-led marketing strategy and execution, brand marketing and positioning and generate press releases.
Product & Event Management:
o Writing full CPA plan in conjunction with all stakeholders (commercial, marketing, operations, external) to include all aspects of the conference event cycle and managing the day-to-day aspects of the conference programmes.
o Liaising with Conference Chair and Governing Body members, as well as ensuring that these advisory groups remain fresh, relevant and advocate widely for the event.
o Set up meetings to determine conference themes, topics, content building blocks, session chairs and speakers.
o Ongoing liaison with advisory boards for production of programme – from initial meeting to full programme development and delivery.
o All aspects of conference correspondence pre- and post-conference.
o Speaker liaison – all conference correspondence and management of a speaker manager wherever relevant.
o To assist in the development of effective mailing lists by contact with people both inside and outside the company who have access to the names of potential delegates and to ensure that such information is communicated to the marketing team.
o Arranging speaker dinners and VIP meetings to facilitate the business aspects of the conference.
o Assist in the maintenance of constant, correct and timely liaison with speakers throughout the duration of the event.
o Onsite conference fulfilment.
o To assist with content-related queries from potential delegates and assist in adopting positive actions to sell delegate places and sponsorship.
o Liaison with the marketing team for production within deadline and budgets of all conference marketing materials including pre- and post-conference documentation. In particular: the programme must be completed in time to support the delegate sales marketing campaign and sales outreach and there should be a focus on content-led marketing..
o Working with the operations and management team for the selection of venues prior to each conference, aligned to the needs/requirements of the format of the programme, as well as sourcing/briefing suppliers including audio visual facilities and walkthrough plans.
 
Qualifications and Experience:
Preferablly degree qualified
To firmly establish the event portfolio as the leading energy event portfolio within its competitive grouping.
Ability to work across content, sales, marketing and operations teams.
Be well connected with a solid gas, LNG, new energies background.
To simultaneously manage a multitude of strategies across international portfolios.
Keen attention to detail and an ability to multi-task.
Effective communication skills both externally and internally.
Be an ambassador for dmg events.
A team player.
