Overview
DLH is seeking a Cloud Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert on cloud computing and data architecture technologies and trends for our Department of Defense medical research customer.
Up to 3 days onsite in Ft. Detrick, MD; other days can be remote.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a well-informed, near term and long-range cloud and data strategy document, including a continual analysis of cloud/data applications, hardware, software, and organizational approaches to meet mission requirements.
- Advise the government on courses of action to adapt and improve their existing cloud computing and data resources/infrastructure, including but not limited to hardware, software, organization structures, and policies/procedures.
- Monitor the existing organizational cloud computing/data infrastructure to ensure that all regulatory, privacy and technical issues are properly addressed in a cost-efficient manner.
- Monitor the existing organization's cloud computing infrastructure to ensure they are maintained with minimal downtime and acceptable levels of Quality Of Service (QOS) with a goal of 95% or higher availability.
- Advise the government on best practices for data warehousing and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) approaches; Data integration and data migration; Data governance and data quality management; and data security and privacy.
- Serve as a lead interface among customer Data Science Division and customer Functional Teams, various information management/information technology decision-makers, and stakeholders on issues related to the analysis of capabilities, implementation, and use of cloud service offerings.
- Serve as technical SME on client adherence to policies related to cybersecurity and other aspects of the use of cloud services.
- Work with cloud providers, client Data Science Division Chief and other stakeholders to develop and assist in the acquisition of data pipelines and other capabilities to support medical research and development needs.
- Present the status, issues and other needed information at staff meetings and other venues.
- Produce and enforce data standards for client mission requirements, maintain a repository of all data architecture artifacts and procedures.
- Create data models for data structures, analytics, and AI applications, prepare accurate data design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.
- Use research analytical skills, prior knowledge, and creativity to troubleshoot and solve technical issues as they arise, possesses effective presentation and communication skills and be proficient with MS Office Tools.
Qualifications.
- Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience supporting cloud environments, developing and administering an IT operations environment, and administering servers on Windows and Linux platforms.
- Minimum 5+ years' experience implementing, migrating, managing, and operating systems/applications in an enterprise cloud computing environment as well as deploying and supporting workloads in a cloud environment.
- One or more of the following cloud certifications: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud
- Must meet all requirements for obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust Clearance
