As an IT Security Engineer, your main role involves devising, implementing, and managing the organization's security infrastructure to safeguard against cyber threats. This encompasses creating technical solutions and innovative tools to address vulnerabilities and streamline security tasks. You'll be responsible for maintaining secure digital assets and infrastructure and promptly responding to and managing security incidents. A proactive approach is crucial for maintaining the integrity and safety of the organization's computer systems and networks.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate current technology architecture for vulnerabilities and recommend upgrades or enhancements.
  • Monitor network traffic for any irregularities.
  • Implement and manage technological upgrades, enhancements, and significant changes to the security infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Install and configure firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
  • Establish organization-wide best practices for IT security.
  • Address information security concerns throughout project lifecycles.
  • Oversee changes in software, hardware, facilities, telecommunications, and user requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold corporate security policies.
  • Provide training to staff on network and information security procedures.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a System Security Engineer or Information Security Engineer.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining security systems.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of database and operating system security.
  • Proficiency in security systems like firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, and log management.
  • Windows Server security and Office 365 security environment
  • Experience with Azure
  • Experience with Active Directory endpoint security
  • Experience working with Carbon Black or similar technologies
  • Familiarity with network security, networking technologies, and monitoring tools.
  • A thorough grasp of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
  • Understanding of web-related technologies and protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CISSP, GSEC, CEH, or CISM certifications.
  • Technical certifications related to network security such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Palo Alto, Check Point, Juniper).
