Who We Are Looking For:

The Associate Managing Editor juggles the work of all commerce editorial team members to ensure a balanced, informative, and revenue-driven content cycle every day. This role ensures there is the right balance and consistent production of long-form evergreen features, deals coverage, and other shopping-related content pieces to ensure Digital Trends’ place as a go-to for readers needing support in their purchasing process.  The Associate Managing Editor ensures timely, comprehensive coverage of key commerce products, including best of roundups, daily deals posts as well as evergreen deals roundups, sponsored posts, and more revenue-driving content opportunities. Commerce Team is responsible for achieving revenue goals through content and other opportunities, and the associate managing editor will be responsible in helping the team hit its goals with his/ her own revenue targets.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Write, edit, update, and publish commerce-related content with as needed.
  • Help create, manage and maintain our commerce content calendar, and support staff and freelancers meet deadlines.
  • Support Commerce Editor with day-to-day operations of team members in various locations across the country with maintaining a constant flow of content
  • Drive new and incremental revenue for the company through affiliate commissions, sponsorships, etc. with various content types
  • Support Commerce Editor with ways to improve and optimize operations and revenue opportunities
  • Manage and execute content strategies for tentpole shopping events (like Prime Day and Black Friday)
  • Support Commerce Editor in managing freelance budget to maximize content, guide editors in spending.
  • Support with recruiting and developing new, diverse talent
  • Create, manage and maintain training and how-to documents for new and existing staff and freelancers
  • Ensure consistently high standards of excellence are met in our commerce coverage and editing
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What We Require:

  • College degree in journalism or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience managing a section, preferably more than one.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; able to write in a style that is interesting to the core audience. 
  • Performance-driven
  • Experience in affiliate marketing
  • Data analysis and SEO skills are a plus
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.  Able to communicate and provide feedback effectively to others.
  • Experience working with web content management systems (WordPress preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic photo editing skills a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of the current tech landscape is a necessity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in an office environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
