About the Role

The Senior Director of Business Development and Alliance Management will have a significant impact by driving the strategic growth and development opportunities of Dianthus Therapeutics.

Reporting to the CFO / CBO, you will be responsible for evaluating, structuring, and negotiating new business opportunities, cultivating partnerships, and managing key alliances to enhance the company's market position and adding strategic value to help build a long-term successful Biotech company. You must have experience bringing new assets or products into the pipeline, maintaining a commercial mindset, and an understanding of full lifecycle product development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development:

  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities that align with the company's strategic objectives and growth targets.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to expand market share.
  • Lead the negotiation and structuring of complex partnership agreements (including geographic partnering), licensing deals, and strategic alliances.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential opportunities and effectively prioritize initiatives based on their potential impact and alignment with company goals.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Discovery, Clinical, Regulatory CMC, Legal/IP, Finance, etc.) to assess market trends, patient needs, and competitive dynamics to inform business development strategies.
  • Lead the evaluation of potential deals including scientific/portfolio rationale, market opportunity assessment, NPV modeling, comparative deals, and evaluation of business fit, in collaboration with cross-functional teams

Alliance Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key partners and alliances, fostering strong relationships and driving mutual value creation.
  • Develop and execute alliance management plans to ensure the successful implementation and execution of partnership agreements.
  • Facilitate regular communication and collaboration between internal and external stakeholders to drive alignment and achieve shared objectives.
  • Monitor and track the performance of strategic alliances, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Resolve conflicts and mitigate risks that may arise in the course of managing complex partnerships and alliances.

Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans and initiatives to support the company's growth objectives.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on market analysis, industry trends, and competitive intelligence.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define and prioritize strategic initiatives and allocate resources effectively.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in sciences required, advance degrees (MS, PhD, MBA, MD) preferred
  • Experience in business development, alliance management, or related roles within the biopharma industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully identifying and executing business opportunities that drive revenue growth and enhance market position; robust deal sheet.
  • Robust business acumen and strong negotiation skills, with the ability to structure complex agreements and drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to present results to senior management and the Board
  • Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to analyze market trends, assess competitive dynamics, and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving results through collaboration and influence.
