About the team

The Web Client Platform team is focused on developing the technical foundations on which other engineers at Dialpad can build stable, performant, easy to use and easy to debug web applications utilizing and expanding beyond modern industry standard best practices. Through the usage of our tools and libraries we simplify and improve the development experience, allowing teams to better focus their efforts on building features that delight and promoting end-to-end ownership over their respective domains.

Your role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll share ownership in the Web Client Framework roadmap to build / support / maintain common infrastructure supporting the whole Product Eng Org (100+ Engineers). Your impactful work helps improve: Dialpad’s customer experience, development overhead, tech debt, scalability. 

This position reports to our Web Client Platform Senior Manager, and has the opportunity to be based in our Buenos Aires, Argentina office.

What you’ll do 

  • Defines 1-3 year roadmap/vision that helps realize and expand upon our team charter.
  • Writes clear and complete architectural design documents which are easily understood by other team members.
  • Provide estimates on technical resources and requirements necessary to plan and begin projects.
  • Takes responsibility for the execution of the Web Client Framework team projects. Assists and drives where necessary to ensure the team meets its delivery milestones.
  • Develops well-tested features and tools, resulting in low defect reports and faster engineering throughput.
  • Is widely recognized as the technical expert in supporting web clients. Devises elegant solutions to difficult engineering problems.
  • Reviews technical designs to ensure features / tools are well-integrated and fully meet the needs of our product engineering teams.
  • You’ll work on projects such as i18n tooling and string translation pipeline, configuring host applications to smoothly integrate and run micro-frontends, remove testing friction by building robust mocking tools, bootstrapping CLI tools to help teams get started on new projects, complex client side data management and caching solutions, and much more.
  • Give larger scale internal demos on new tools that you have completed and explain how they fit into the bigger picture. 
  • Continue contributing to fun projects meant to delight!

Skills you’ll bring 

As an experienced backend software engineer, you drive software delivery & operational excellence by turning well-defined business objectives into software systems. Significant impact on Organization-wide output.

  • 10+ years of strong experience in frontend software development
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent in experience
  • Strong experience working with common frontend technologies and the underlying tools that make modern web applications run
  • Experience with introducing new technologies to established systems, documenting and educational material.
  • Experience with identifying classes of problems and modifying existing or building novel tooling to solve them.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with highly agile and iterative development processes.
  • Experience with mentoring engineers and helping them grow their skills
  • Our Tech Stack: Vue 3/Pinia, Typescript, playwright, vitest, pnpm, vite, REST/GraphQL, as well as some interesting proprietary solutions.
