The team

As a Sales Engineer at Dialpad, you will be part of the Sales organization and play a huge role in providing innovative and deal driving customer solutions. Our Sales Engineers partner with Account Executives to win and close major deals that will have a large impact on Dialpad's overall success. The global Sales team is made up of Sales Development, Channel, Enablement, SMB, MidMarket, and Enterprise teams—all teeming with unbridled passion and grit. Our Sales Engineers help businesses solve complex communications problems felt by everyone around the world.

What you will achieve

In your first 30 days: 

  • You’ll work closely with the your manager as well as a Sales Engineering mentor to learn about Dialpad as a company and also the Dialpad product offerings. 
  • You’ll network with your peers on the Enterprise, MidMarket, SMB & Channel teams.
  • You’ll start to network with teams you will be working closely with such as Sales, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Support. 
  • You’ll work with the enablement team on a training track specifically designed for Sales Engineers at Dialpad.

In your first 60 days:  

  • You’ll begin to shadow your fellow Sales Engineers and Account Executives on discovery calls, demos and Proof of Concept coordination calls to get a good grasp of what it is to be a Sales Engineer at Dialpad.
  • You’ll learn the ins and outs of the many integrations that Dialpad works with and practice you demo skills on these integrations.
  • You’ll learn the many technical tools the Sales Engineering team uses to test network environments and track features and improvements.
  • You’ll complete Sales Engineering Demo Certification

By 90 days: 

  • With the help of the Sales Engineering team you’ll work directly with reps and prospects to aid  technical discussions and demos.
  • With the assistance of the Sales Engineering team you’ll start running Proof of Concepts which includes gathering success criteria, system configuration, admin training, user training & troubleshooting.

Who you are

You’re a Sales first engineer with a passion for building solutions and presenting them to Executives, IT and Business users alike. You have been doing this for a number of years with Enterprise wins under your belt. You have a technical curiosity and excitement about delivering a technology solution that makes work better. You enjoy having a voice and being a team player. 

Skills you will bring

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent grasp of various modern cloud communications platforms such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with Business VoIP Telephony Services (On-Premise or SaaS).
  • Experience with Contact Center solutions (On-Premise or SaaS).
  • Understanding and experience with the following VoIP CODECs and technologies (G.711, G.729, G.722, OPUS, H.264, VP8, VP9, WebRTC, H.323, SIP, Network Analyzers).
  • Comprehension of and experience with: 
    • Network Infrastructure (Firewalls, Routers, Switches & Wireless); WAN Technologies (MPLS, VPLS & SD-WAN).
  • Data Center Technologies (Public & Private Clouds).
  • Software components involved in enterprise service delivery (web servers, application servers, databases, web services, mainframes, network attached storage and other related technologies).

 Non-technical Skills:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working with Project Managers on complex site deployments.
  • Minimum 3 years customer-facing experience working as either as Sales Engineer in a Channel environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50%+ of the time.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively and balance multiple, disparate work streams.
  • Obsession with finding the root cause of the problem not just the immediate solution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • Experience presenting & building relationships from C-Suite to IT Operations.
