Role & Responsibilities:

We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual to join the fast-paced finance team as a Senior Accountant. This person will play a key role in helping us scale our finance, accounting, and treasury functions across Diagram and its portfolio companies.

Reporting to our Senior Director of Finance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing and reviewing full-cycle accounting and finance tasks for both our funds and portfolio companies
  • Supporting the creation of new companies and implementing the initial finance and accounting systems
  • Acting as a strategic advisor to our portfolio companies, helping founders with fundraising, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, ESOPs, and other financial/accounting needs
  • Overseeing the financial and tax reporting of our funds
  • Managing our funds’ capital resources and forecasting capital deployments and expenses
  • Working closely with various third party service providers (auditors, fund administrators, back office accounting firms, etc.) 
  • Reviewing and assessing current accounting practices and recommending/implementing improvements to internal controls and business processes

Above all, we are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness to take on whatever challenges come along, and seeking to broaden their exposure to the Venture Capital and Startup industries.

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree or above in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines
    • 2-5 years of professional work experience
    • Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple work streams and meet deadlines
    • An interest in the startup and venture capital industries
    • Prior experience in fund accounting or familiarity with PE/VC Fund workflows and calculations
  • Nice to have:
    • CPA qualifications or equivalent
    • Experience with Xero, GSuite, Dext, Carta

The role requires proficiency in English and French and is based in Montreal with a hybrid work model.
