About The Role

Our Retail team is seeking a Merchandise Assistant to support our mission of delivering an exciting and seasonally relevant product assortment to our customers. You will serve as the “foundation” of the Buying team, knowing the details behind our styles and ensuring that key information related to each of them is captured and stored properly within our internal systems. You will support Buying in executing merchandising strategies to ensure we are maximizing the financial impact of our assortment. This is a first step within the Merchandising track at Dia & Co and offers advancement opportunities within the Merchandising team.

What You’ll Do 

  • Creating, maintaining and updating assortment sheets and Purchase Orders with Dia & Co’s internal merchandising systems
  • Working with Operations to make decisions around inventory deliveries that arrive out of their shipping window, in line with overall assortment needs
  • Developing deep expertise of our internal merchandising systems, knowing the most efficient ways to get certain tasks done and identifying opportunities to improve our processes 
  • Developing and maintaining a list of styles to be shot for our eCommerce site each month; communicating routinely with vendors to ensure samples arrive in time for monthly photo shoots. Partnering with marketing to assist in the collection of samples in support of our ecomm needs and marketing calendar.
  • Evaluating the performance of our assortment, and sharing a point of view on what resonates with our customer to help us continue to refine our offering
  • Supporting buyers in the execution of merchandising strategies and assisting on special projects in support of assortment and vendor strategies

Who You Are

  • 1-2 years of experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • A 4-year Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant internship or work experience within a Merchandising function and an understanding of foundational retail math
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills. Can manage multiple tasks effectively and execute priorities with a sense of urgency
  • Great attention to detail and excellent follow through
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Google Suite, with an aptitude for learning new programs
  • A confident decision-maker: can operate independently
  • Comfortable in analytics and data - Excel and Google docs are second nature to you, Looker is a plus
  • Passionate about product! You love clothing and want to see our customer have style parity with the industry
  • A strong communicator, both live and through email
  • Comfortable interacting with cross-functional partners in a collaborative environment, even if they are more experienced than you
  • Hungry to work in a start-up environment: you know how to hustle and can operate independently, using logical, thoughtful decision making to inform your next moves
