Herman Miller Retail is seeking a freelance writer to work with our editorial and marketing teams on a weekly basis to develop engaging, SEO-driven stories and marketing content to support Herman Miller’s gaming gear portfolio, including science-backed performance seating, desks and tables, and more. We are looking for an intrepid writer who is keen on helping us position Herman Miller as an endemic gaming brand and its growing gaming product portfolio as a health-positive alternative to our competitors. On a weekly basis, their responsibilities would include the following:
Pitch ideas to Director of Editorial and Marketing leads for articles and short think-pieces to be written and published via Herman Miller’s content hub and distributed via its relevant digital channels.
Write SEO-driven articles as assigned.
Interview, edit, and condense conversations with internal Herman Miller experts and external gaming influencers and personalities for Herman Miller’s content hub. (3x monthly)
Write all email blasts, product webpage updates, homepage updates, social posts, and all eComm-related updates to support seasonal campaigns.
Write all on-site and Herman Miller store and printed collateral as needed.
15-20 hours a week billed on an hourly basis.
The ideal candidate should have a solid knowledge of competitive PC gaming – the players, teams, games, and influencers who dominate and sustain the dialogue around competitive gaming in myriad social media channels, including Twitch, Twitter, Reddit, and more. They should also have superb writing skills, understand the terminology native to the competitive gaming market, and be able to work collaboratively with the Herman Miller editorial and marketing teams to generate new, fresh ideas for relevant marketing content and then chase down, research, and write this content on deadline. The candidate should possess a customer-first mindset and ideally demonstrate experience working in eCommerce retail.
