DesignMind is seeking a Technical Business Development Engineer as technical lead to assist in developing and expanding market for DesignMind’s BI and data analytics products and services in West South-Central Region (TX, LA, OK, AR). This role will be based in the Houston, TX area.
Develop and deliver technical presentations of DesignMind’s software solutions to existing and prospective customers in financial, technology, manufacturing and other enterprise-level companies. Train and mentor engineering staff in preparing and presenting technical sales presentations.
Meet with customer representatives from business and engineering functions to analyze customer business needs and IT system requirements and establish DesignMind’s product capabilities as the best solution to its customers’ BI technology and systems needs.
Provide technical responses to requests for proposals for customized industry-specific software and data design solutions and communicate with engineering team to plan customized solutions and specialized feature requests. Train and mentor engineering staff in collecting and analyzing information to identify time and budget requirements.
Monitor/ inspect installation of customized BI systems at customer worksites and oversee post-sales engineering support.
Maintain trusted relationships with assigned clients to ensure customer success is achieved and to drive expanded adoption of DesignMind products and services.
Participate in meetings with DesignMind’s sales managers to contribute to the development of sales strategies and meet with engineering team to provide customer feedback to guide product development.
Supervise 2-5 software developers.
Approximately 20% travel within West South Central Region (TX, LA, AR, OK) to deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, analyze customer needs, present technical responses to request for proposals for customized software and design solutions and monitor/ inspect installation of DesignMind’s systems.
Option to work from home office in Houston MSA up to 40% time.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or closely related technical field + 3 years experience developing software applications including 3 years experience in the following:
- Database development in MS-SQL Server, Oracle DB databases and/or Mongo DB (any combination)
- Developing data analytics and reporting solutions using SSRS, Power BI and/or Tableau (any combination)
- Data warehouse development using Microsoft SSIS, Tableau and/or QlikView (any combination).
Experience to also include developing software applications in 3 projects for data warehouse development from planning to implementation and 2 years experience preparing and delivering presentations to senior managers in business and engineering functions. All experience may be concurrent.
In lieu of Master’s degree + 3 years experience stated above, will accept the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or closely related technical field + 5 years progressively more responsible experience developing software applications including 5 years in following:
- Database development in MS-SQL Server, Oracle DB databases and/or Mongo DB (any combination)
- Developing data analytics and reporting solutions using SSRS, Power BI and/or Tableau (any combination)
- Data warehouse development using Microsoft SSIS, Tableau and/or QlikView (any combination).
Experience to also include developing software applications in 3 projects for data warehouse development from planning to implementation and 2 years experience preparing and delivering presentations to senior managers in business and engineering functions. All experience may be concurrent.
