Reporting directly to the VP of People, you will develop the talent strategy and advise on all things People related: talent development, coaching, performance management, organizational design and coordinate with the HR team to manage employee relations. You are skilled at using both quantitative and qualitative data to perform root cause analysis, identify trends, tell a story and inform innovative ways to building programs, and ensuring Descript team members are engaged and growing.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic partnership and counsel to managers and team members across the organization, ensuring employee advocacy and fairness. The majority of our team is in the EPD org so there will be a heavy focus on Engineering working groups.
  • Craft and implement creative and progressive talent strategies tailored to specific teams, addressing retention and development needs.
  • Support leadership teams through all People processes including compensation, talent development, leveling, performance management, employee relations, change management, organizational design, etc.
  • You will be the primary driver and leader in all of your clients’ people related activities and programs.
  • Help coach and develop leaders at all levels within the organization.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative data in order to inform key business and talent decisions.
  • Collaborate with other People Team functions (compensation, recruiting, talent development, learning & development, etc.) to inform the design and implementation of People programs.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years experience as a strategic HR Business Partner.
  • Excellent judgement and problem-solving capabilities; as well as the ability to make thoughtful decisions.
  • Curiosity about people and organizational issues; you have a creative, solutions-based mindset.
  • You are analytically driven; you utilize qualitative and quantitative approaches to problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Experience driving key people, programs and processes (performance management cycles, calibration facilitation, compensation planning, coaching, employee relations/conflict resolution, organizational design, etc.).
  • The ability to flex your style and build trust and rapport with Executives, Managers and ICs.
  • You are agile and able to adapt to shifting priorities in a startup environment. A balance of being process and systems driven, with the ability to pivot when the business needs call for unexpected challenges that bring change.
  • You effectively partner with cross-functional partners (e.g. Finance, Legal) and the broader People team to build a better employee experience for employees.
  • You are known for your excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • You lead with empathy/sense of humor.

 

The base salary range for this role is $170,000-$205,000. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, and location, and they may vary from the amount above.
