JOB PURPOSE

We don’t believe in siloed teams – content, technology, media and data overlap in all roles.

As an Account Director you will represent DEPT® to our clients and will be responsible for building strong relationships with clients at all levels including strategic input and overseeing the delivery of a wide variety of substantial integrated campaigns. You will also be overseeing different work streams to ensure efficient, accurate, and smooth delivery between all teams. You will required to manage client briefs from start to finish, planning, assigning and reviewing creative and managing the overall agency workload in partnership with the client services and the wider account leadership team.

We need someone who understands our client’s customers, who can put themselves in their shoes to create strategies and ideas that exceed expectations, who understands that brands are competing for consumers’ attention and have at best a couple of seconds to inspire some sort of interaction. We also want you to spot areas of improvement and adapt the processes and ways of working to address these. Therefore, you must be a great team player with strong interpersonal skills. You will be highly organized, with a strong attention to detail and great time management skills, being able to juggle several projects and priorities at once at different stages of the process. You will be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines with ease and efficiency. 

You are ambitious with the ability to think strategically, contribute something new to the agency and be a strong communicator with tenacity to learn and deliver. You will also have the opportunity to impact the growth of this fast growing ambitious company with real prospects to grow the job with the success around you. Equally, experience with delivering commercial success in an agency model is important. 

This role will require occasional visits to the client site that is located in the Menlo Park area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of an Account Director is exciting, varied and constantly evolving. In this role, you will:

  • Ensure delivery of work is to the highest possible standard in a timely manner that is aligned with budgets.
  • Ensure constant innovation across all deliverables
  • Coordinate a dedicated account team to ensure optimal customer and project support
  • To oversee the client contract, to proactively manage the account and resources to maximize profitability. To be responsible for cost and pipeline management. 

  • Full budget and profitability responsibility, proactively and strategically develop the relationship with our clients
  • Work with our expert teams to develop customized solutions for project implementation
  • Ensure the right DEPT® team is in place to deliver, high standards are maintained and adding value wherever possible. Ensure success criteria are met and projects are delivered to time and to budget.
  • Lead, line-manage, motivate and inspire your team
  • Conduct performance reviews of team members and identify areas of improvement, give feedback and recommend for promotions or salary increments
  • Interview candidates and hire resources
  • Develop annual strategies, identifying priorities for the year; internal and external
  • Oversee, project manage and work with teams to develop brilliant digital content (creative, production)
  • Contribute to our creative process by sharing your ideas and experience
  • Build a full understanding of the clients’ business, strategies, objectives, brand,
audiences and challenges, advising on the communications solution that best meets their needs, with a view to becoming their trusted adviser. 

  • Build excellent working relationships with key clients – regular meetings, planning, briefing, evaluation 

  • Ensure a good knowledge of all DEPT® products and services and actively promote them to clients
  • Hold key new business development responsibilities, working with others in the team to proactively seek new opportunities for the business. Writing proposals and creative treatment. Contributing to winning new business.


SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • Have extensive, professional experience in roles involving account management and strategic planning, ideally in an agency environment, and have experience in an international context
  • Extensive professional experience in managing projects with seven-figure annual budgets in creative production
  • Grasp complex correlations quickly and holistically; you are open, communicative and see the big picture
  • Are characterized by a structured, analytical and independent way of working
  • Experience delivering broad range of multi-channel marketing communications including digital and direct
  • Experience working on a global brand
  • Confident with both brand and conversion/direct-response campaigns
  • Experience leading, motivating and coaching team members
  • A great team player and team building skills
  • People management / leadership skills
  • Resource management skills and ability to handle complex / sensitive issues
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Brilliant written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills

  • Ability to forecast, reconcile and monitor client revenue and profitability
  • Ability to estimate, manage, monitor and reconcile client out-of-pocket funds
  • Strong understanding of scope management inclusive of how to track and manage, escalate scope pacing issues
  • Ability to manage and develop client and supplier relationships
  • Ability to commercially manage budgets
  • Keep a grasp on all projects across the team, ensuring the larger team's work is in scope 
  • Knowledge of the services, deliverables, performance and fees section of the SOW, ensuring team is compliant
  • Proven business development experience and success

The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, physical location, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
