JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking an inspiring and entrepreneurial Director of Influencer Marketing to lead and oversee all aspects of influencer marketing initiatives within our fast-paced social agency. This role requires someone with experience in building and nurturing a team of influencer managers, as well as developing and executing influencer strategies and creator campaigns. They will be a collaborative and strategic partner to creative and conceptual teams, client partners, influencer heads across other global teams within DEPT®, and influencers and creators alike. They will use their vast expertise in the industry to excite and engage creators in order to drive business goals for our clients, while at the same time establish tried and true ways of working and overall set the standard for successful influencer engagements within our agency.

At DEPT®, a Director has the experience and expertise to confidently advise internal and external stakeholders. As a strategic partner, they’re comfortable providing feedback on creative concepts and direction and selling creative ideas to creator partners. As a business partner, they’re responsible for understanding and responding to clients’ business needs, managing budgets, and turning performance reports into actionable learnings for future work. As a thought leader they will have a continually evolving point of view on the influencer landscape and how to best leverage it for our clients.

This role will be a leadership position within our team, managing and mentoring 2-3 direct reports and working within our broader creative, production, and analytics teams to round out our agency proposition. The role is also a hands-on one, directing casting strategies and leading the creative production process from outreach through delivery. An understanding of the financial aspect of these partnerships is essential, as is partnership with our internal operations team to ensure all creators are paid accurately and on time. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is a new role within our agency, and one that will uplevel and expand our existing creator and influencer marketing offering. It requires seasoned leadership and management skills, a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of influencer marketing trends and willingness to roll up your sleeves and get into the day-to-day work, and a vision for the team and our offering. 

Strategic Partnership

  • Lead on influencer strategy both internally at DEPT, and externally for clients
  • Build and manage relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and social media platforms, acting as an ambassador for DEPT
  • Work directly with senior clients to understand their business challenges; contribute to new business opportunities and lead client pitches
  • Act as a thought leader, monitoring and following key market trends and upskilling the team as needed. 
  • Partner with creative and production teams to develop campaigns and concepts that integrate creators in thoughtful and innovative ways
  • Play a hands-on role throughout the process, from building briefs to liaising between internal and external parties during rounds of feedback
  • Working with client service teams, manage timelines in accordance with project timelines and and evolving needs and distribute budgets across partners and campaigns

Talent Sourcing and Management

  • Develop and maintain a roster of preferred talent and partnerships, as well as relationships with key talent agencies and representatives
  • Source new, innovative, and diverse creators
  • Present casting recommendations to brands based off data and creative strategy
  • Manage an efficient and legally sound process, from outreach through invoicing

Team Management & Mentorship

  • Responsible for career development for 2-3 influencer managers at various levels from coordinator to senior
  • Work with senior team members to discuss team growth and new hires 
  • Develop and upskill our ambitious team as needed
  • Create coalitions across departments to define and improve ways of working

RELEVANT SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES

  • Extensive experience in influencer marketing, casting or related social media field
  • Proven experience in a senior management role
  • Experience selling through influencer programs and strategies in new business pitches
  • Experience building out team processes and ways of working
  • Well-versed in paid media and organic social, for casting and reporting purposes
  • Deep relationships with creators, influencers and their agents
  • Relationships with creator/influencer teams at major brands
  • Experience working directly with big brands and senior clients
  • Strong ideas and opinions on the future of influencer marketing and creator partnerships
  • Experienced in owning and managing talent budgets and pricing strategies 
  • Experience with contracts and legal communication
  • Stellar communication and presentation skills
  • Highly entrepreneurial spirit and solutions-oriented mindset

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,000 - $135,000. Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
