This role is part of our Personalized Creative team. We create emotive yet conversion-focused ideas, products and campaigns at scale and speed. Our specialty is hyper-personalized, digital communications that change perceptions, shape new behavior's, and shift market share for our clients including eBay, Ancestry, Walmart, and more!

JOB PURPOSE:

Our studio in the US needs creative partners to help us tackle our client work. We are building a strong, collaborative team in Toronto to work as an extension of the studio in the US to execute daily creative tasks.

A Senior Designer on the Toronto team represents DEPT® by maintaining the highest quality of work while working hand-in-hand with their peers across both Toronto and the US teams. They help more junior team members grow and achieve their goals by staying in touch with their ambitions and providing them with projects that are a healthy challenge. Senior Designers at DEPT® bring to life authentic ideas that capture the audiences’ attention. They work within many different formats and social platforms, leveraging the latest tech. A Senior Designer is a creator. They’ve mastered the craft and are passionate about solving complex problems by any means necessary but more specifically, through visual design in the digital space. Their taste is impeccable and they understand how to interpret strategic thinking into executions. They are trustworthy, know best practices and are eager to deliver multiple approaches against the project brief with surprising executions that no one ever expected.

This is a full-time contract based in Toronto, Ontario.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role is fast-paced, varied and constantly evolving.
  • Reports to the Art Director and Associate Design Director
  • A self-starter and autonomous in their work
  • Work closely in partnership with Senior Motion Designer and Motion Designers day to day
  • Working alongside the Creative team to bring work to fruition
  • Design production in both short and long form needs across the digital space including social, mobile, web and beyond
  • Apply platform first thinking to designs and interpret it across placements
  • Confidence in foundational design practices: alignment, typography hierarchy, balance between negative and positive space, mixed media, and more.
  • Be involved in creative production, taking creative from start to finish with the team
  • Be invested in creative idea development and campaign look and feel
  • Be available to the idea of working with untraditional types of assets and programs
  • Communicate often and clearly with your team and your manager
  • Receive constructive feedback with professionalism, learning to pivot from emotional, personal reactions
  • Time manage yourself and your projects
  • Be aware of and respond to current design and culture
  • Present work internally and externally
  • Contribute to our creative process by sharing your ideas and experience
  • Builds editing solutions that support identified KPI's

SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • A portfolio including visual design
  • Experience designing for social media in both paid and organic formats
  • Knowledge of evolving platform specific best practices  
  • Mastered knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and Figma and ideally sufficient in After Effects
  • Ideally knowledgeable in programs adjacent to design tools that are used by editing and motion counterparts: After Effects, Blender, Premier, Spark AR and Lens Studio
  • Dropbox, Google Drive, and Google Suite proficiency
  • Advanced problem-solving skills & utilizing your available resources
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail
  • Routinely proofs and QA’s all work that leaves their desk
  • Experience presenting your work
  • Ability to remain focused under pressure within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work within a team as well as with clients
  • A love for learning new things and exploring new formats
