This role is part of our Personalised Communication team. We create emotive yet conversion-focused ideas, products and campaigns at scale and speed. Our specialty is hyper-personalised, digital communications that change perceptions, shape new behaviours, and shift market share for our clients including eBay, Ancestry, Walmart, and more! 


As a Senior Copywriter, Social Media you will join our global Copy Team made up of 35+ people around the world. You will create copy for social channels for Walmart, providing innovative, on-brand content that drives clicks and engagement for one of the world’s top retailers.

You will provide voice and tone expertise, acting as the brand guardian for this workstream. You will work closely with account managers and the client to deliver brand-affirming, high-quality content that resonates with the customer. 

This role requires a genuine passion for editing and giving critical feedback. You will be expected to uphold Walmart’s creative standards, while continuing to push new ideas and embody DEPT®’s entrepreneurial spirit.

This is a 6 month fixed term contract in the first instance, with the likelihood of extension.


  • Create clear, effective, and original copy and content for Walmart’s social platforms
  • Bring innovative, unique ideas to the table that push Walmart’s social media marketing forward 
  • Provide clear, effective feedback when editing 
  • Give directional brand and tone of voice guidance 
  • Establish, strengthen, and uphold copy standards
  • Establish processes and policies to maximise efficiency 
  • Deliver ideas confidently both internally and externally
  • Offer strategic messaging  insights on creative campaigns
  • Research competitors and trends for creative inspiration
  • Facilitate creative brainstorms and other necessary meetings 
  • Exhibit leadership and professionalism across all interactions 
  • Write content for other channels when necessary (ex. onsite, CRM, display) 


  • Experience as a copywriter is a must, and a background in agency or brand is preferred
  • Experience in social media marketing, content strategy, or social content creation is preferred
  • Understanding of social media content best practices and trends is essential
  • Experience editing content and giving feedback is necessary
  • E-commerce, retail, or fashion copywriter a plus
  • Experience in the e-commerce/retail environment a plus
  • Experience delivering and receiving feedback in English is necessary 
  • Translation and/or transcreation experience a plus 
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-channel digital copy and brand development a big plus
  • Ability to deliver compelling marketing and content copy that sells is essential
  • Confidence working with other departments and stakeholders such as designers, developers, and clients is essential 
  • Readiness to work at a fast pace on large marketing campaigns with many assets
  • An understanding of the importance of consistency across different touchpoints of a user journey
  • Ability to present work to large groups and communicate ideas clearly and enthusiastically
