The Denver Broncos are excited to add a Controller to their growing finance team. We are looking for a dynamic leader and strategic thinker that is inherently curious. The Controller oversees all corporate accounting functions and will lead the modernization and implementation of a new ERP solution.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the corporate accounting function for team, stadium and other operating entities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and all General Ledger responsibilities.
- Support the organizational needs by reviewing, improving, and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
- Responsible for oversight of the monthly reconciliation of all accounts for all companies.
- Responsible for leading system modernization of the organization’s corporate accounting function.
- Creation of centralized functions for the corporate accounting team requiring cross collaboration organization-wide. This includes contract reviews, automated billing/collections, and reviews/audit of vendor spend.
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protect assets by improving, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Oversight of the organizations’ financial statement preparation and review process
- Ensure all NFL reporting is completed timely and accurately.
- Perform ad-hoc financial reporting based on business or management requirements.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit; manage external audit to achieve a successful and efficient audit.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
- Manage and build a high-performing team by planning, assigning, and directing work. Accurately appraises performance, helps to build confidence by recognizing success and coaching employees. Appropriately address performance concerns and develop a highly engaged and customer-focused team.
- Assist the VP of Finance in responding to requests for financial data from various sources.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting
- Licensed CPA
- 5+ years’ experience as a Controller or similar role
- Proven leadership skills with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated experience performing/leading system implementations
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement and being a change agent
- Expert in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
- Strong project management and process improvement skills, including demonstrated ability to think end-to-end and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Personable, action-oriented, and professional
- Efficient and able to maintain poise in high pressure situations
- Exemplify integrity, strive for self-improvement, and have an open-minded, can-do attitude
Preferred Skills & Ability:
- Public accounting experience, preferably Big 4
- Prior sports experience
- Master’s degree in accounting
- CMA, MBA or other comparable certification
- Prior experience working with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau or others)
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary for this role is $165,000 - $190,000. This position may be required to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and holidays outside of a normal working hours as needed.
This position will be located at Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit in Englewood, CO.
