General Overview: The primary role of the Asst. Director of Multilingual Education is to oversee ELL and bilingual practices across schools to ensure scholar needs are met & to build capacity of school teams to implement ELL best practices. The Asst. Director of Multilingual Education is responsible for working alongside the Academics team and school-based staff to ensure curricular material is chosen and implemented to best serve ELL students. The assistant director supports school leaders and teachers to implement mandated programs, services and accommodations, and along with best practices. They partner with the Directors of Academics to build a vision for strong bilingual programming at Democracy Prep, and work to make that vision come to life.

What You’ll Do
Work the academic leadership team to set vision on bilingual, dual language, and ELL instruction at Democracy Prep Public Schools.
Oversee and support Bilingual/Dual Language Program instructional implementation.
Provide ENL Instruction oversight to all DPPS schools.
Coordinate with the ELL Manager to ensure that ELL programming and assessment are and remain in compliance with state, federal and local laws.
Provide professional development for teachers, leaders and members of the DPPS community on best practices in bilingual and dual language instruction.
Analyze data on ELL scholars and scholars receiving bilingual and dual language instruction to drive instructional decisions.
Support with the enrollment process of new ELL scholars to ensure they receive proper programming and support.
Coordinate with ACT Team to align instruction to ELPs.
Partner with schools and the Academic Collaboration Team to develop ELPs (english learner plans) for SIFE and Newcomer ELLs.
Work with the finance team to strategically disperse Title III funds to best support scholar learning.
Identify and work to overcome stumbling blocks to high quality instruction in dual language and bilingual classrooms across the DPPS network.
Collaborate with the rest of the Academic team to enhance the entire team's knowledge of best practices in terms of instruction for bilingual and dual language instruction.
