About the Opportunity

Democracy Prep Public Schools seeks a Grants and Compliance Manager who will be responsible for collaborating across teams to manage grants administration and compliance reporting. Working closely with both external and internal stakeholders, the Grants and Compliance Manager will develop and oversee Democracy Prep’s accountability systems for our schools across our regions. 

This role can be based out of any of our school regions.. Priority will be given to applications submitted by April 19, 2021.

  • A college graduate (required), with prior experience in a nonprofit or charter school environment a plus. 

What You’ll Do

External Compliance 

  • Maintain ownership of all federal, state, local, and private grants across the network and ensure programmatic compliance for funding.
  • In partnership with school leaders and network leadership, develop project and grant budgets that align with grant goals.
  • Represent Democracy Prep, its values and interests to state and local authorizers, donors, and manage relationships with other external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the management and completion of state reporting and accountability tasks.
  • Codify and document the work being done across state accountability systems in our regions and explain that work to others.
  • Develop annual reports for various states and ensure these reports are posted as required.
  • Monitor updates to Democracy Prep’s Student and Family Handbook, including annual board review/ approval, and policy updates as required by new legislation and new federal, state, and local policies.
  • Support Title I programming with funding applications and amendments, family engagement, and school performance plans.

Internal Systems

  • Proactively monitor, audit, and analyze school school-level data to ensure ongoing compliance with internal and external policies.
  • Design systems and tools for school teams to efficiently and accurately record and manage student data, in conjunction with the Network Data Team.
  • Develop training materials and lead PD for relevant stakeholders on implementation of, and compliance with, attendance, school safety, records and data management, procurement, student health, meal service, family engagement and communication in appropriate languages, and support of programs for special populations such as the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
  • Author and maintain content on the network’s staff resource portal, The Crest, for the above topics to ensure complete, accurate, and up-to-date information is available to school staff.
  • Actively participate in semi-annual performance reviews of school operations, with a focus on auditing compliance-connected systems and providing constructive feedback, in conjunction with the Network Operations Team.
