Rider Compliance:

This role is vital to protecting our unique and industry-changing Rider Working Model that enables us to deliver on our promise to Consumers, Partner, Rider and Shareholders. This is a highly visible role with lots of exec interest in the area and loads of opportunity to create impact! The role reports into senior Product Leadership and is a hybrid role based out of our London office.

The person in the role will be required to:

  1. Own, manage and enhance our existing Compliance products (i.e. Facial Recognition) to maintain Deliveroo’s compliance with local laws and regulations (i.e. employment law, GDPR)
  2. Understand the Rider Working Model and Rider needs, legal risks and requirements, as well as technical challenges and constraints in the area, and articulate a roadmap and strategy that moves us from a reactive compliance roadmap to a de-risked product, tech and data roadmap
  3. Effectively manage and balance the needs of primary stakeholder (legal) in this area, while also representing Rider needs and challenging legal risk where appropriate.
  4. Collaborate closely with the Rider Onboarding product teams, Rider Ops/Markets and Legal teams. 
  5. Be responsible for overall Rider Compliance, including Rider Data Compliance.

Delivery Tooling: In addition to rider compliance, this role is also responsible to lead Tooling across all Delivery teams.In this capacity, you will: 

  1. Build & maintain all internal tools for the Delivery organisation. 
  2. Set the vision and direction of internal tooling platform supporting all internal tools (e.g. load mgmt, rider pay adjustment etc.) used primarily the the Rider Operations teams or Local markets 
  3. Ensure the flexibility of the platform to support other engineering teams building their own tools

Sample meaty questions/projects to go after:

  1. We've launched an industry-leading solution that regulates Substitute Riders (which we demo-ed to the Home Office) and next up is leveraging our Facial Recognition technology to make sure all Riders on the road are compliant with our policies, amongst other exciting things.
  2. How do we make effective trade-offs between two high risk compliance requests that are non-comparable (i.e. in two separate markets)? What engineering team structure do we need in place to be flexible in these scenarios?

We are looking for:

  1. A product manager with a comfort and preferably experience navigating legal/compliance requirements and interfacing with legal counterparts, while demonstrating an ability to keep in mind the end user(s) requirements
  2. Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and insights to make informed product decisions, in particular in the face of strong or directive legal input
  3. A strong communicator with excellent oral, written and storytelling skills, capable of effectively reassuring and giving confidence in execution at all levels. 

 

Desirable qualities:

  1. Strong technical skills and a excellent attention to detail in implementation
  2. Familiarity with building and maintaining services for backend systems and platform applications.
  3. Understanding of features and initiatives related to compliance and fraud prevention within the context of platform applications.
  4. Ability to support and drive key initiatives across feature-based teams as needed.
