You will be joining the localisation team as our first in-house Chinese Traditional Localisation specialist. Localisation plays a vital part at Deliveroo: we are responsible for making our product relevant to users in our non-English speaking markets. Translator, localisation specialist, transcreator...whatever the title you’re using, if you love the challenge of translating ideas from one language to another and have strong writing skills, we want you on our team.

You will be part of the Experience team, working alongside our team of Designers, Content Designers and Localisation Specialists to localise the words and design of our app in Chinese Traditional. You will also work closely with our marketing team in London and Milan/Rome to localise our marketing campaigns and go-to-market strategies.

What you’ll be doing

  • Become the bridge between the localisation team and the local markets
  • Localising our app and web for the Chinese Traditional market to ensure our product feels like it was written just for them.
  • Localising marketing campaigns with the local teams in Chinese Traditional to reach more users in our markets.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in the language
  • Advising our content designers and designers on new flows to ensure it will localise before we start the translation process. Your input will help the team working on prototypes and experiments.

Quality

  • Run linguistic QA.
  • Optimise the existing translations for the marketing website & app.
  • Building our reference material and maintaining it to ensure that anyone who localises or writes in XX follows our tone of voice.
  • Train new members of the team on ToV and localisation best practise.

Requirements

  • You must be a native Chinese Traditional speaker as well as fluent in English - you will be the guardian of our Chinese Traditional tone and voice in our London office working very closely with our teams in Hong Kong. You might be required to work from our local offices on a project basis.
  • You should have experience in localising apps and websites
  • You’ll need a good writing style that is accurate and adaptable, with impeccable grammar
  • You must have experience working with Computer-Aided Translation (CAT) tools
  • You also have a background in areas like linguistics, translation, journalism, literature, marketing

Not essential, but we’d love it if you:

  • have experience working in a marketing/product/transcreation team
  • have worked in a start-up before
  • have an understanding of usability and/or UX principles and how they work when applied to a range of products
  • have experience in working with a multidisciplinary team to localise outstanding content across a variety of platforms and products
  • have a good understanding of the food culture in Hong Kong
