About the Role

The Commercial Partnerships (CP) Team at Deliveroo today focuses on revenue generation through sampling campaigns through our Editions kitchens, selling ad banners on our homepage, and providing Fast Moving Consumer Goods (“FMCG”) companies with access to in-menu e-commerce assets on our platform. The vision for the CP business is to be a leading media and eCommerce marketing partner for FMCG companies, providing marketing performance data and sampling as value-added services.

Editions is Deliveroo’s global network of delivery-only kitchens, providing a flexible expansion platform to restaurants as well as a better restaurant selection and order experience to Deliveroo's customers. Since 2018, our kitchens have been used as a key distribution channel for physical sampling for advertisers as well as experiential and media activations (e.g. pop-ups and bag sponsorships). 

The Business Development Manager, Commercial Partnerships role is focused on driving CP revenue for Editions. You will be accountable for meeting and exceeding revenue targets across the full suite of CP Editions products and building a strong pipeline of viable revenue opportunities with FMCG, media, and personal care brands.The desired candidate will be an energetic,  tenacious and commercially astute business development manager, motivated by targets, who loves working through a fast-paced sales cycle.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Prospect, pitch and close deals against CP Editions products with a proactive approach
  • Own the full transactional sales cycle with potential FMCG and agency partners, proposing opportunities that achieve the partner’s KPIs and business objectives
  • Cold and warm outreach, using a variety of communication methods (phone, email, VC)
  • Maintain organisation of your revenue opportunity pipeline as to ensure accurate and reliable revenue forecasting
  • Hand over closed sampling deals to the fulfillment operations team in accordance with standards and specifications as to ensure seamless and efficient fulfillment
  • Develop an in depth understanding of the UK sampling marketplace, making recommendations to strengthen our proposition wherever needed based on structured collection and reporting of customer feedback
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of CP products and the Editions strategy quickly to identify new opportunities for revenue generation
  • Provide structured and constructive feedback on sales lead quality as provisioned through purchased lead lists and digital marketing campaigns


Skills and Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience in sales or business development
  • Sales or business development in FMCG or sampling agency is a plus
  • Demonstrable experience of sales success in a high-volume-low-touch sales model
  • Ambitious self starter with a proven track-record in meeting and exceeding revenue targets
  • Effective relationship-builder with strong communication skills, able to build rapport quickly over e-mail/phone/VC channels
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented - able to manage and maintain a high volume high velocity pipeline
  • Ability to communicate product benefits and close deals
  • Ability to independently negotiate commercial terms in-the-moment within boundaries set by management
